Okay maybe MsChif isn't the one to worry about in the melee...

We're back in Mt. Vernon and this is only the second Gateway show I've ever been too. I decided to run down to southern Illinois for an overdue visit with the relatives and check out some other events that were going on down there at the same time. The building where GCW runs their shows is the YMCA. It's not a big gym that's for sure. The ring is set up on one side of the gym and the fans on the other side. The ring announcer runs through the whole lineup before the show gets started, which was about 15-20 minutes later than expected. The music is extremely loud, which makes it hard to hear anything else or converse. Attendance was about 70 people, not real great in my view, especially with a relatively big name on the card.

Super Castadi vs. Evan Petrie - Country poseoff, full nelson by Super C, they wrestle down to the mat. Evan wants to shake but pokes him, DDT and chokes with the leg. Clothesline by Castadi, neckbreaker by Evan. Hard whip to the corner and Evan hits double knees! Headlock legscissor hammerlock of sorts, whatever that submission hold is, Castadi ain't looking very super and gives it up. A bit short.

WINNER: Evan Petrie submission -> 3:40 mins. ¾*

Evan runs his mouth after the match and introduces Pierre for the next match.

Pierre w/ Evan Petrie vs. Gary Jay - We get a posedown, and the ref even does some. Jay with armbars, takedown and rollup get one causing Pierre to flee. Gary with armdrags, grazing dropkick and Pierre flees again. Gary chases him but gets nailed, Pierre with the snapmare and kick, DDT, neckbreaker. Pierre goes for a superplex, fight on the ropes, Jay hunches Pierre over and top rope double stomps him on the back for two. Pierre suplex, crosslegged nelson but lets it go and chops him on the back. That would USUALLY end the match with that hold, why'd he release it? Pierre continues with a surfboard of sorts, headlock, shoveoff, clothesline Gary Jay and he's fighting back. Second rope chop, small package gets two. A hard Russian leg sweep by Pierre gets two. Frog splash by Jay gets two, he goes back up and hits a top rope elbow to the back and gets the pin.

WINNER: Gary Jay pin -> 9:20 mins. ***

Michael Serious vs. Trent Stone - Well I have a lot of fun with his name, yelling out "Are you SERIOUS???" and "You CAN'T be SERIOUS!!!" when he slacks and stuff. Trent Stone just came back to GCW after leaving for a while for reasons still unknown. Posedown to start, Mike slaps him and says he's on steroids, Stone slugs him and Mike flees, to which I ask if he's Serious. Stone chases him and pounds him on the rail. Press slam, whip and elbow by Stone gets two. Serious with shoulderblocks, drop toe hold into the corner, and knee thrusts. Mike with a hard whip to the corner, leg scissors, neck snap off the ropes, goes up, missile dropkick gets two. Well he's looking Serious now. Armbar and leg scissors by Serious, Trent tries a rollup for two. Trent misses a charge and gets tied up in an armbar and leg scissors, Stone stands up with it and powerbombs Serious for two. Delayed suplex Stone, powerslam, has Serious in a fireman's carry but Serious slips out and hits some German suplexes. Slugfest, Serious with a rake, choke and chop. Russian leg sweep by Mike, he goes up, flying headbutt(!) gets two. Stone gets kicked to the floor, Serious wedges a chair in the corner, ref sees it and chews him out, Stone stupidly charges Serious, he sidesteps him and he smacks his head into it. Elbow and pinfall.

WINNER: Michael Serious pin -> 11:20 mins. ***¼

GCW Tag Team Championship
(c)Sean Vincent & Rebecca Raze vs. Steven Kennedy & KC Karrington w/ Tiffany Farlane - The baddies attack, double flying headscissors by Vincent & Raze that the heels bail. SSK and Raze start the match, Thesz press, running knee Raze, KC hits SSK...oops. Tag Sean, wheelbarrow splash gets one. Samoan drop gets two. Flying clothesline gets one. Sean chop, ten punch in the corner but SSK tosses him. Tree of woe, KC in and hits a baseball slide dropkick. Neckbreaker gets two. KC with a choke, Sean with an elbow, moonsault barely takes him down for two. Sean with a slam, makes a wish and stomps KC. Tag Raze, side legdrop from the second gets two. KC hits a dropkick and tags SSK, double suplex and choke. KC illegal switch, backbreaker gets one. Tag SSK, powerslam gets two. KC in, double whip, elbow, snap mare, kicks. Raze in peril, Sean jumps in to stomp KC. SSK with a cheap shot, KC suplex gets one. Raze finally hits a clothesline for two and tags Vincent. Legdrop, Juvy Driver gets two. Sean with a choke on the ropes, running sitdown gets two. KC with a DDT, tag SSK, he hits an axe. Sean with a clothesline, back drop drop, tags Raze, she hits a suplex for one. Boy, lots of one counts thus far. SSK with elbows, armdrag gets one. Dropkick Raze gets two. Tag Sean, kick to the gut, Sean with the acid drop on Kennedy while kicking KC off the apron and gets the pin.

WINNERS and STILL CHAMPS: Sean Vincent & Rebecca Raze pin -> 14:15 mins. ***½

It's intermission time and MsChif comes out briefly to the merchandise table. I had to ask if she was gonna cause me to jump through another concession stand window. Haha. The last time I watched MsChif wrestle it was at an IWA-MS show in Herrin where she had a wild brawl with Mickie Knuckles all over the building, and when things were in the lobby area they got a bit too close to me...boxed in with no where to go, I hopped through the concession window to avoid them, which got the concession guys upset. Oh well. She couldn't stay out there long cause she was up next.

GCW Light Heavyweight Championship - Man vs. Woman
(c)Jackal vs. MsChif - The gal in green technically was supposed to be the heel, but the crowd was split, and I of course cheer for the woman. Standard wrestling to start, they trade armbars, kick, elbow Jackal. MsChif tires a moonsault but misses, Jackal goes to a form of a surfboard, MsChif reverses it into a dragon sleeper, Jackal rolls her up for two. Hangman's headlock by MsChif, Jackal slaps the mat...is that a tapout? Ref says no, MsChif hits a clothesline for two. Suplex gets two, knee, boot choke, forearm shots, MsChif with a charging clothesline and Jackal goes outside. He pulls her out however, they whip each other into the rails. Jackal hangs MsChif over the rail with an armbar, rake, and throws her back in. Jackal misses the clothesline but she hits a chop! They trade shots, Jackal yanks his shirt off, MsChif screams, forearm shot to the jaw. MsChif drop toe hold into the second rope and sits on him. Forearm shot by Jackal in the gut, shining wizard. Jackal kick to the back, backside bulldog gets two. Armtrap gutwrench DDT Jackal gets two. Jackal yells KILLSWITCH, armbar but MsChif gets out. Jackal hits a forearm shot, suplex floatover gets two. Pendulum by Jackal, MsChif shrieks but Jackal can't hold on, goes for a move that's blocked, MsChif shoves him in the corner, double stomps to the chest get two. Cross-legged full nelson by MsChif, turns him over for two. MsChif hits a springboard moonsault for two. She screams in frustration, whip to the corner, Jackal evades, forearm, hurraconranna of sorts and the referee makes a FAST three count. WTF??? What the heck was THAT about?

Hardcore Match - Fans Bring the Weapons
Big Bad Ben vs. Dice - Match barely gets started when Outkast comes out and wants in the match. Fine, you're in.

Triple Threat Hardcore Match - Fans Bring the Weapons
Big Bad Ben vs. Dice vs. Outkast - Outkast has TACKS! Pizza pan shots on Outkast! Dice and BBB double team him, clothesline BBB. BBB brings in the toys! He gets a hockey stick, Outkast with a chair and nails Dice. BBB gets a ladder, Outkast with a hockey stick shot and breaks it. Everyone's on the floor, and someone fetches a MOUSETRAP BOARD! BBB puts the ladder in, but Outkast nails him. Fans are bloodthristy here. BBB spinebusters Outkast on the MOUSETRAPS!!! Ben chairshots Outkast and suplexes him with a mousetrap stuck on his back. Outkast is hung in the corner, Dice puts a chair on Outkast's face, but Ben trashcan shots Dice. Ben throws a ladder across the ring into the can! Ladder shot into Dice. Ben gets a small baseball bat and chokes away. Dice nails Ben with a pan. Ben grabs a pair of them though and drums Dice with them, batshot to the groin! Outkast is cut up. Ben misses the batshot, and Outkast with a ladder shot on Ben! Outkast tries to put Ben on the ladder but Dice takes him down. Outkast goes up, whisper in the wind gets NOTHING but ladder! It's half broke now! Dice has a cheese grater and tears up the face of BBB! Outkast has a bag of tacks and dumps it on the ring apron! Outkast and Ben pound away and someone is tossed into the sign! Ben is bleeding! Outkast gets slammed face first into the tacks! And they rub his face in them! That's sick! Look at all the tacks in his head! A fan hands Ben a chair, Dice with some headshots on Ben, Dice goes into the sign, Outkast goes up, flying bodytackle into Ben and Dice! Outkast isn't taking the tacks outta his own head! Now he gets a table! Dice back in the ring, chant goes on, Dice is hit with a can, Ben with a chairshot, canshot on Outkast, table set up in the middle of the ring, Ben tries a bulldog but goes rolling over the thing bending up the table legs! Outkast puts the table in the corner, Dice slowly gets up, no blood. Ben reverses the whip and Outkast crashes through the table! Ben throws the chair at Dice and superkicks it, Outkast with a quick cover on Dice and gets the pinfall! Whoa. Outkast still has tacks in his head and shakes hands with Ben. Crazy brawl.

WINNER: Outkast pin -> 12:05 mins. ***½

Survivor Series Match
Cameron Cage, Bryan Monterro, Jimmy Charisma & Melvin Talent vs. Chaz Wesson, Kory Twist, Shorty Biggs & Dingo -- Standard elimination tag match, beat all four of one win and you win. The heels are slow to get in, but once they do it's an eight man brawl and the faces do running charges to the corners as if they were running the bases. Four way tree of woe, four dropkicks and the heels bail. Well the faces come after them on the floor. Twist with a crossbody off the top into the pile of bodies on the floor! And now the heels are being tossed into the crowd! WTF??? I have to scoop up my toys and run! Actually break something too...arrgh! Flying crossbody from the top rope over the rail into the crowd! Okay I'm pissed. The fight continues as people are eventually thrown back over the rail. Chaz with a dropkick on someone. I'm too distracted now. I guess that's Jimmy Charisma in there. Dingo and Monterro are in. Patrick will have to write up the first few falls when he gets the DVD of this. Clothesline by Monterro, suplex gets two. Melvin tagged, monkey flip gets one. Jimmy with an elbow to Dingo, Biggs tags in, hits a dropkick and some other moves for two. Twist and Monterro in, spinebuster by Twist gets two. Slam by Monterro gets two. DNS tag in and out to pound Twist, Twist with a double DDT on DNS. Enzuigiri by Twist and Biggs tags in. Biggs dropkick, crowd noise has been high all night. Running buttshot by Biggs into Jimmy. Biggs goes up, Melvin trips him, hangs him over the top, double team spinebuster and Cage tags in JUST to pin Biggs.

Shorty Biggs...you ARE the WEAKEST LINK...Goodbye! Cage pins Biggs at 9:45 mins.

Dingo is in, Monterro is in. I finally find the REST of my watch so I can put it back together...ugh. Dingo powerslams or piledrives Monterro and eliminates him--like I said I missed it.

Monterro doesn't wanna leave! Fishman suplex by Talent gets two. Dingo gets thrown into the enemy corner to be pounded. Melvin puts Dingo on the top rope, SUPERPLEX! Twist tags in and pounds both members of DNS, clothesline on Talent, Charisma gets a flapjack! Kory with a DDT on Talent, briefcase put in the corner, Blaze trips Twist, Jimmy clotheslines Twist with a chain, Cameron tags in and pins Twist.

Kory Twist...you ARE the WEAKEST LINK...Goodbye! Cage pins Twist at 15:35 mins.

3-2 advantage Cage's team. Dingo wants Cage but tags Jimmy back in. Cage is being wussy. Dingo with an enzuigiri for two. Talent tags in, drop toe hold gets two. Dingo kick, fisherman's buster gets the pin on Talent!

Melvin Talent...you ARE the WEAKEST LINK...Goodbye! Dingo pins Talent at 17:05 mins.

Back even again. Charisma in, whip and clothesline in the corner, bulldog! Charisma with some sort of pinfall and Dingo is gone. Problem is that looked like a two count.

Dingo...you ARE the WEAKEST LINK...Goodbye! Charisma pins Dingo at 17:45 mins.

Wesson is left, he hits a dropkick on Charisma, powerslam and he's gone.

Jimmy Charisma...you ARE the WEAKEST LINK...Goodbye! Wesson pins Charisma at 18 mins.

Cage tries to walk out of the match but Chaz won't let him leave. He gets in relunctantly and gets chopped, snap mare, neck snap, another chop! Cage with a rake, knee shots, Wesson chops Cage back, headbutt! Cage throws Wesson hard into the corner! I think that turnbuckle is stripped, choke by Cage and Blaze on the ropes! Snap mare by Cage gets two. Cage pounds Chaz, whip and clothesline gets two. Chaz gets dumped in front of us again, Talent comes back out, Chaz put in and cover gets two. Cage with a chop, hard clotheline by Chaz. Chaz powerslam gets two. Tear him up chant. Chaz chops Cage in the corner, whip high knee in the corner. Chaz...KICK WHAM PEDIGREE on Cage and that finishes it.

WINNER and SOLE SURVIVOR: Chaz Wesson pin -> 24:35 mins. ****

Cage's team runs back out and beats down Chaz, but not for long as Chaz's team runs out and chases the baddies off. They stand tall in victory. Wild match that I would have enjoyed more if I wasn't having to run for safety.

The Verdict: Man I wish GCW would run further north than they do, cause I sure got a lot of good wrestling tonight. No stinkers at all, and gave three stars to every match except the opening squash. Could do without the wrestlers in my lap though. Otherwise, get out and watch them if you can. They certainly deserve more than the 70 people that were there.
