The Rap Sheet - PWI 7/29/2K6
The Rap Sheet - from the Mad Conservative
Powerhouse Wrestling Inc.

Outdoor shows in 95' weather just aren't gonna be great...

The views expressed by the critics of the Mad Conservative are definitely not my own, I do not want ownership of those views, and do not want those views portrayed as my own. The views that ARE expressed by the Mad Conservative can be found at the Rap Sheet Dossier at http://rap-sheet.tripod.com and the St. Louis Wrestling Community at http://stlwrestling.livejournal.com

A sign of the attitude and the continual state of reclusive behavior they have with the fans, I found for sale a t-shirt that says "no smarks". Yes, while the majority of the current wrestling audience is now made up of smart marks, PWI's owners apparently didn't get the memo or are in denial. And I imagine if the promoters ever went to a Madison Square Garden show they'd pull out a gun and shoot themselves. Smarks are getting younger and younger too, cause one kid by me was saying "this is fake". Classic. Ever notice, every time there's a freebie show there's more kids in the crowd yelling it's fake but there's none of those at shows where you have to buy tickets? Anyway, the nameless, faceless webmaster who lives in a concrete pillbox in Marseilles shrieks in terror at the mere mention of Mad Conservative Crimefighter because despite me being the editor of the St. Louis Wrestling Community he doesn't want me getting show information off their Myspace page and engages in poor public relations. Obviously he was no where to be found in Lincoln.

This show is OUTSIDE, and the ring was set up in the parking lot, which was recently sealed over, and thus its pitch black. The air temperature outside is between 90-95, which heat indexes over 100. I had no idea they were gonna do this outside, and furthermore it was also bring your own chairs, which I would had liked to have known that beforehand in the bulletin board posts.

Live from the bloody hot parking lot at Logans Lanes in Lincoln, IL. Zach Andrews is your ring announcer. Tobi Hope is the new interim commissioner now that Skip has retired. Incidentally, what they were trying to do to explain Skip’s absence was a wrestler was gonna bash his head against a table and it would break apart. Well that very same table fell apart in front of me early in that show, which I mocked them for bringing in such crappy equipment not realizing what they were gonna do with it later.

Hope says Tim Lyle who’s supposed to be in the main event tonight, suffered a torn ACL at the prior event at the hands of Jimmy Shalwin and Jeff King. Well those two come out, Shalwin is wearing a stocking cap in the middle of summer. He intros a man who supposedly trained people from the 1930s, Jeff King. Yeah, maybe in a prior lifetime, but not now. This kid proceeds to talk in an old man’s voice, and looks pretty dorky doing it. Shalwin thinks he’s got a handicap match tonight and they’ll squash Rudo Cortez. Hope says it’s not a handicap match, Rudo’s partner instead will be Beast. Shalwin doesn’t want to wrestle Beast. THEN GO HOME! Shalwin says he’s got 500 friends on Myspace he doesn’t have to wrestle him. King however has unlimited confidence with his trash can.

"Golden Boy" Mike Horning vs. Tony Rican - I wish Horning was doing his "Waterboy" persona, cause I could use a drink. Basic wrestling to start, Tony works the arm and gets an armdrag for two. Mike with a suplex, dropkick for two. Reactions from the crowd and slow in coming here, I dunno if they're just passive or the heat is getting to them. Mike chops away for two, sunset flip dropkick by Tony gets two. Backbreaker Mike, goes for a move using the shoulders...but can't execute so he dumps Rican on the mat. Ugh. Mike with a headlock, Side suplex Tony, clothesline, flapjack, goes up and hits a missile dropkick for two. He goes up again, he's caught...short spinebuster gets two. Mike with a frogsplash, Matty Montcalm runs out to jaw jack with Mike over what happened a few months ago, Tony rolls him up and gets the pin.

WINNER: Tony Rican pin -> 9:50 mins. **¾

Reid Reign vs. Johnny Lawless - Apparently Tobi found someone else from St. Louis that he likes the ring work of besides Kory Twist. Reid with armdrags and a slam. Lawless with the opening trio and clotheslines Reid to the asphalt...ACK! REIGN IS ON FIRE! THIRD DEGREE BURNS!!! Lawless gives chase, but Reid pounds him in the ring, suplex gets two. Reid with a punt, knees to the back, sleeper, backbreaker sweep gets ONE. Dropkick Reid gets two. Clothesline Lawless, spinebuster, slugfest, Lawless with some weak punches in the corner, choke with the boot, a SLOW running knee to the corner gets two. Reid with a side suplex into a rock bottom takes out Lawless for the pin. Not impressed at all, but the heat was on, so...we'll wait.

WINNER: Reid Reign pin -> 4:55 mins. *½

"The Strangler" Diego Corleone vs. Botch - Ah Diego, he's been making considerable waves in the state and this is my first opportunity to see the guy perform. And welcome back Botch to downstate Illinois. Diego with a poke, knee strikes. Botch with an elbow, clothesline, backdrop, turnbuckle ram, boot choke, KO slug gets two. Botch pounds away on the ropes, kick, running BOOT and proceeds to stand on Diego's back. Diego reverses a move for a bulldog, trade chops, Diego with another poke, shoulderblock in the corner, running knee and applies the chinlock. Botch shoves him off and hits a powerslam. Botch makes a wish and drops the headbutt, BOOT and yanks him out of the corner. Diego with a knee to the gut, tries to toss him but Botch tangles up in the ropes and fires back on Diego with the SNAKE EYES...but misses the BOOT. Diego with a sleeper hold, Botch spins around and hits a belly to belly slam, Polish hammer, full nelson slam gets TWO. Botch with the 16-punch count in the corner, ref pulls him off, Diego grabs the bullrope, clotheslines Botch with it...ref catches him red-handed and it's a DQ. Blown spots and more in this one, heat looks to be a factor.

WINNER: Botch DQ -> 8 mins. **

Michael Flannery vs. Adam Evans - Flannery is new to downstate Illinois, as he usually wrestles with MSPW. Mike with a slap, headlock, hammerlock is taken to the mat. Armbar Adam, headscissors, HARD SLAP. Adam gets an atomic drop and clothesline for ONE, knees to the arm get ONE. Mike kicks Adam in the leg and goes to work, ankle lock, but Evans kicks him off and snap mares him into the ropes. Northern lights suplex by Evans gets ONE. Flannery with a figure four...Adam manages to turn it but they're in the ropes. Mike repeatedly sits on the leg, but Adam boots him out with the other one...Flannery is on the asphalt! OH NO HE'S BURNING TO DEATH!!! GET SOME ICE!!! Back in the ring, Adam with a clothesline, leg takedown gets two. Flannery with a kick, goes for a bulldog but Adam spins down to the mat, Adam with a form of a side suplex that also looked messed up and that gets the pin. Finish was completely blown.

WINNER: Adam Evans pin -> 8:05 mins. **

“The Hype” Jimmy Shalwin & “Old Timer” Jeff King vs. Rudo Cortez & Beast – I’ve heard of people wanting to act older than their age, but this is ridiculous. Shalwin is all hype and no substance. Rudo and Beast has the heel team outweighed by a lot. The heels stall like mad and Beast gets on the mike saying he doesn't have time to waste waiting on those sissy boys to get in. Rudo and Hype start, Rudo gets the trio, dropkick and Jim flees. Tag King. Rudo throws him around with ease and tags Beast. MISMATCH! Beast works the arm and BITES him, rake, slam, elbow gets two. Beast with the jetski armbar, chops, more biting and a BOOT choke! And Beast with the BIG SPLASH gets two. Tag Rudo, he pounds away but Hype runs over and necksnaps him down. King tags Hype, slam, legdrop gets two. Sunset flip by Rudo gets two. King is tagged in and they beat up Rudo in the corner, tag Hype, battering ram attack with King as the ram gets two. They’re not the Bushwhackers! Corner ramming, Hype charges but eats a boot. Beast tagged, King tagged, and Beast with a belly to belly slam on King gets ONE. Hype pokes him, clothesline Beast, Hype and Rudo slug it out and shove the ref down. Ref opts not to call for the DQ, Beast with a headbutt on King's shoulder, Shalwin bails out and rings the bell HIMSELF.

NO WINNER: NO CONTEST -> 9:30 mins. **¼

Diego Corleone runs out, Adam Evans runs out for whatever reason. Michael Flannery comes out, as Diego finds himself alone against Beast and Rudo. More people show up, just about the entire roster. Botch goes after Reid Reign and tosses him out, Flannery gets caught solo against five faces and gets taken out. Tobi Hope comes out with a mike and tells them all if they want to fight so bad, then it's a 10-man tag team elimination match right now. Diego gets into some skirmish with a kid, taking his lawn chair and banging himself in the head with it. Well the kid gets it back but is swinging the thing around at him with Diego egging him and a few security guys walk over to split them apart. Funny thing AFTER the show, inside the bowling alley I went to talk to Diego...well there was a kid that was asking him for his autograph. Diego was trying to charge him five bucks, but he didn't have any money, nor did he have any paper. The kid persisted and Diego says he's trying to converse with an adult, that being me, I comment that he might be a closet Diego fan so he finally relents and agrees to give it to him...the kid comes up with an envelope from his mom, Diego signs it...and the kid takes it over to a trash can and dumps it in there! Ohhhh that was funny.

Survivor Series Match
Botch, Adam Evans, Beast, Johnny Lawless & Rudo Cortez vs. Diego Corleone, Michael Flannery, Jimmy Shalwin, Jeff King & Reid Reign – The heels stall, and Beast says if someone doesn't get in the ring he'll jump out and beat up all five of them. Reign and Beast start, Beast pounds him down, suplex, tag Evans, kneedrop gets two. Reid ends up in the enemy corner, tag Lawless, shoulderblocks, suplex gets one. Spinebuster by Lawless gets the pin. What?

Reid Reign, you ARE the weakest link! Goodbye at 1:50 mins.

Flannery checks in, sends Lawless to their corner for a beatdown. Lawless however hits a knee and tags Botch. Botch rams him in the corner, clothesline gets two. Tag Evans, he land a KO punch for two. Side elbow Evans, Diego jumps in without a tag, Adam with a chop and tags Botch…who breathes down Diego’s neck and clotheslines him outside. Botch follows him, they brawl in the parking lot and the ref counts them both out!

Botch & Diego Corleone double countout at 4:45 mins.

Jeff King and Beast come in next, King has the trash can, Beast takes it away but the two referees somehow only see Beast waving that thing around and DQ him. What? Please!

Beast, you ARE the weakest link! Goodbye at 5:30 mins.

Adam Evans and Mike Flannery are in, Mike trips him, chokes away and goes back to work on the same leg he did during the prior match. Adam gets him in a side suplex however, and pins him with it…but the ref calls it a double pin. WTF??? Man they’re going for all sorts of goofy finishes here in this trainwreck!

Adam Evans & Michael Flannery double pinfall at 7:20 mins.

Johnny Lawless and Jimmy Shalwin in. Hype with a backbreaker and boot get one. King in illegally, he slaps on a nerve hold, cover gets two. Double team pounding, but Lawless clotheslines them for two. Tag King, Shalwin has Lawless hanging across his knee, King off the second rope with a kneedrop and that gets the pin.

Johnny Lawless, you ARE the weakest link! Goodbye at 9:55 mins.

Rudo in, but the “A-Team” double teams him, Rudo is shoved into a boot, bulldog by King gets two. Tag Hype, knee drop/backbreaker double team gets two. Tag King, crossbody attempt is caught, Rudo throws him into Hype, Rudo slaps a clawhold on King but it's broken up. Rudo gets a small package on King and gets the pin.

Jeff King, you ARE THE WEAKEST LINK! GOODBYE at 12:45 mins.

Shalwin with a poke, Rudo tosses him, Shalwin tries to suplex him back in but King grabs the legs, BOTH REFS don't see it and Shalwin gets the pin with King holding the feet. I can expect ONE ref to miss something like that but TWO?!?

WINNER and SOLE SURVIVOR: Jimmy Shalwin pin -> 13:15 mins. *¾

Haphazardly booked and rushed like mad, excuse given is we were running outta time and it was hot. The heat I could understand, but the time issue is ya started late and had an intermission. They hype the next show and we're done. I've been to too many shows in the hot weather. And the hot sun did affect everyone here so no verdict. Next show is a matinee event on August 26th at 2pm and they're doing a six-man war games match.

Crimey, I cannot believe you can actually think that in 2006 the prhase "you are the weakest link, goodbye" would be relevent. I guess I give you way too much credit. And your reviews are still boring as fuck to read, fyi.
