The Rap Sheet - GAW 7/15/2K6
The Rap Sheet - from the Mad Conservative
Great American Wrestling's United We Stand
7/15/2K6 Maroa, IL
Excessive heat just added to an inferno of controversy and surrealness!
I decided to write up a review of this show over the weekend, due to what transpired recently. This is GAW's annual survivor series themed event, it's all eight man eliminations, and at the end of the show everyone enters the ring for a battle royal.
This day that the show was held, was one of the hottest days of the summer, temperatures in the mid 90s, and of course the place where the show is being held had temperatures in the mid 90s inside due to no air conditioning. It was very miserable, and it caused some people health distress. At least I came prepared, hauling a big electric fan to keep somewhat comfortable while calling the action.
There were a number of things significant about this show. One, I finally get in the play by play booth using my performances in 3CW on my resume, and actually end up ring announcing because Chris Lee wasn't there. I of course, couldn't pass up the occasion to take a verbal shot for all those lame Pee Wee jokes. Two, this was the final GAW show in Maroa, because the building got remodeled and the gym was carved up to the point where it's not usable for basketball games anymore. Three, a number of people made their debuts in GAW and some of those were shockers. And finally, I explain the full consequences of what transpired on this show that weren't fully realized for up to five months. A lot of it is quite shocking, depressing and surreal. Most people would rather it not be mentioned or bury it for good, but it's a story that needs to be told so they don't make the same mistakes with the next generation of wrestlers that come out of this area for the greater good.
Live from Maroa, IL at the Old Grade School. Your commentary team is yours truly and Kandi Deluxe, yours truly is your ring announcer. I had to fly mostly blind, as I was handed a half a sheet of paper with no names for some of these matches and a lot of stats missing. They didn't want me in the backstage area due to the big surprise they were promising later and wanted me react as such. After doing their Blue Collar Brawl show with no cards whatsoever I proceeded to create a database of names for show prep material.
Sammy Da Bull welcomes everyone here, and explains the Untied We Stand event. We then proceed with the first introductions, but before I can even get the national anthem started, Hardcore KC, Blake Steel and Matt Boston come out. KC complaints about Danger Doug Fraze and his troupe of former NMW wrestlers, which brings out Eric Ruffington wanting to assist KC in battling those guys. Danger Doug Fraze emerges saying he's got three people lined up, and we'll all be surprised as to who they are. Okay then. This interview was cut from the DVD.
Survivor Series Match
Apriq Laveq, Drake, Josh Calisto & Jay Chaotic vs. Dennis Devine, Axis, Jewels Vega & Marcus St. Christopher w/ Nikki Knight - Well I've never heard of Josh and Jay, but they wrestle up in Wisconsin and Minnesota and this is the furthest south they've ever wrestled. pNut of course has been trying to get a better name, so right now Nikki Knight is what I'll refer to her as though she used a different name here. Drake left NMW in May, unfortunately the fed he defected to stopped running entirely following the July event. Apriq and Axis start out. Axis controls a headlock, Apriq gets out and dropkicks him. Axis chops him however and tags Vega. He chops him some, then has Devine do a few. Vega with the cartwheel headscissors, but gets caught then powerbombed down. Tag Calisto, Vega grabs and suplexes him, then rather does a gay pose over Josh. Dennis then does the inverted bronco buster and Vega kicks him to the floor. Vega slings him in the hard way, hip toss, and Axis comes in. Dropkick by Axis gets two. Josh tags Choatic, suplex gets two. Axis clotheslines him however, Devine grabs Jay, Jay hip tosses him over the top, Axis grabs Chaotic and dumps him onto Devine...who has his knees up in an interesting double team, and Axis pins Chaotic.
Jay Chaotic, you ARE the weakest link! Axis pins Chaotic at 8:10 mins.
BTW, I don't care if anyone hates that catchphrase. Drake and MSC in, suplex Drake, but MSC clothesline and tags Vega. Drake suplexes him over though for two. Drake whip clothesline in the corner, DDT gets two. Apriq in, and they double team Vega, bodies fill the ring, a beach ball of all things goes into the ring, Apriq works Axis in the corner as it clears out, clothesline Apriq. Apriq knocks out the corner, suplex gets two. Apriq with a suplex bomb gets the pin.
Axis, you are the weakest link goodbye! Apriq pins Axis at 12 mins.
Apriq throws Vega in, Drake takes over and hits a DDT for two. Vega kicks away, Apriq jumps in and slugs Devine off. No tag. Drake continues pounding on Vega, clothesline. Apriq and MSC tag in, but MSC kicks Vega and delivers a facebuster, then walks off. Marcus St. Christopher abandoned his team, and apparently quit GAW entirely as he was never seen again after this.
Marcus St. Christopher, you're the weakest link! Apriq beats MSC by countout at 15 mins.
Apriq goes for the kill on Vega, gut wrench slam on Vega and gets the pin.
Jewels Vega, you're the weakest link! Apriq pins Vega at 15:20 mins.
Devine is down 3-1. Josh Calisto in, Devine pounds him, Devine neckbreaker and slugs Josh on the mat. Josh misses a charge and gets rolled up for the pin.
Josh Calisto, you're the weakest link! Devine pins Calisto at 16:25 mins.
Drake sneaks up behind Devine, spinebuster gets two. GORE by Drake, tag Apriq, spinning double underhook neckbreaker gets the pin. Kinda slow most of the way.
WINNERS and SOLE SURVIVORS: Apriq Laveq & Drake pin -> 17:35 mins. *¾
The aftermath, Apriq who was being referred to as Booger all evening by fans as well, heel heat, shelves the persona and sticks to the loveable nerd persona. Marcus was never seen again, dunno where he is now. Drake has no where to wrestle on a consistent basis having left NMW. Calisto & Chaotic haven't been invited back, though it looks like they will be wrestling for MSPW's Hammerlock affiliate run by Conner Riley, who brought them down in the first place. Vega forgot who he was and proceeded to use a half dozen different gimmicks. Devine and Axis each won titles in NGW.
Survivor Series Match
Conner Riley, Bobby Baker, El Mechanico & Mike Ushman vs. George "The Animal" Jr., Big Goldie, Great American Hero & Bishop Hernandez - Baker trips stepping thru the ropes. I have an idea that Goldie and GAH are other wrestlers under masks. Bishop is someone else we know using a different name. Baker and George start. Baker is a new guy and wants to test strength. Baker kicks him instead, monkey flip gets two. Jr. takes offense and pounds him, clothesline, big chop, tag Goldie. Goldie chops away, geez, that looks like gray sweatpants, whip reverse Baker gets a crossbody and gets the pin! That was unexpected!
Big Goldie has been voted off the island! Baker pins Goldie at 2:20 mins.
Goldie was never seen again...course after losing that fast, I wouldn't show my face either. Hernandez in, does a side suplex type move for two, but Baker with a LOW BLOW, kick to the back and gets the pin??? And I missed the low blow the first time around, geez!
Bishop Hernandez has been voted off the island! Baker pins Bishop at 2:45 mins.
Baker tosses Bishop out, wow. Baker wants the Hero guy in, and he's got the cape on still. Baker knocks him down, tags all three guys but GAH nails him, splash in the corner, slam, goes up, second rope splash and gets the pin.
Bobby Baker has been voted off the island! GAH pins Baker at 4:15 mins.
El Mechanico in and pounds on GAH, but GAH BOOTS that Mech, big legdrop takes him OUT!
El Mechanico has been voted off the island! GAH pins El Mech at 4:40 mins.
Geez, rapid fire eliminations here! Ushman in and pounds GAH like mad, Riley in to assist, GAH shoves them off, Ushman with a sunset flip, Riley clothesline and they both cover him for the pin.
Great American Hero has been voted off the island. Riley pins GAH at 5:15 mins.
And we've not seen GAH ever again since. Junior protests two guys in the fall being illegal, well we're dealing with a rookie referee here. Double teaming but Junior clotheslines them both, headbutt on Ushman, slap, another headbutt and that gets the pin.
Mike Ushman has been voted off the island. Junior pins Ushman at 6:05 mins.
Riley stalls for time, but rolls in, and Junior pounds him down. Ushman's supposed to go to the back, but he hops on the apron, Junior argues with him, Riley rolls him up, one shoulder is up however but the rookie ref counts the fall anyway. The Animals headbutt him at a future show to get back at him. Match was just rushed like mad all the way through and became a contest of who could lose the quickest…blame the heat.
WINNER and SOLE SURVIVOR: Conner Riley pin -> 7:15 mins. *¼
The aftermath, Bishop Hernandez went on to become the despised Issan Hadeev. Well who I thought were the masked men was way off, the two were guys that came down with Calisto & Chaotic, but did not wrestle under their regular gimmicks. Baker got booked in NWC and SLW. The Georges went back to tag action, Conner Riley started Hammerlock to run in Bloomington, and the 3CW guys are without a fed or place to train.
Survivor Series Match
Brett Gakiya, Jef Harris, Dangerboy & Jeckel vs. CJ Esparza, Black Dragon, Jason Vendetta & Kyle Rich - I trip over that town Brett is hailing from. I have no clue who is on each team as they didn't put that down, so I call their names as they enter if I know who they are. This is almost an NBWA vs. NGW match except one member of each fed is on the wrong team. Black Dragon is the GAW & NGW tag co-champ at this point. Gakiya and Esparza start, basic wrestling to start, CJ controls a headlock and Brett nearly gets pinned. CJ hits a dropkick, Dragon tags in, Brett with a jawbreaker, tag Jeckel. Dragon works the arm, tag Vendetta, armwringer but the arm slips off, crossbody attempt by Vendetta is turned into a Jeckel powerbomb. Jeckel whip to the corner, Vendetta hops Jeckel, rollup with the ropes and he's gone.
Jeckel must take the walk of shame! Vendetta pins Jeckel at 3:35 mins.
Jeff Harris in, Russian leg sweep, running elbow to the corner, rapid fire kicks and Vendetta is out of it sliding on the top rope and falling back. Heh, great sell. Rake by Vendetta though, tree of woe, he goes up, and steps on his groin before his face. Vendetta tries his finisher, but it's reversed by Harris into the unprettier and gets the pin.
Jason Vendetta must take the walk of shame! Harris pins Vendetta at 4:55 mins.
Dragon in, he kicks away on Harris, slam, suplex gets two. Harris with a shoulderblock, clothesline, savat kick. Dragon with a clawhold and legsweep combo and takes out Harris.
Jef Harris must take the walk of shame! Black Dragon pins Harris at 6 mins.
Gakiya with a missile dropkick into the ring, flying knee gets two. Snap mare and BOOT! Tag Dangerboy, Brett suplex, double team 450 senton, legdrop gets two. Dangerboy with a suplex gets two. Dangerboy walks the ropes with an armbar, leg clothesline and gets the pin.
Black Dragon must take the walk of shame! Dangerboy pins Black Dragon at 7:25 mins.
Everyone left jumps in, CJ drop toe hold, backsplash by Rich, CJ standing moonsault stomp gets two! CJ pounds Dangerboy, slugs Brett, tag Rich, they chop Dangerboy. Rich with a flying side kick gets two. Tag CJ, double team knee, dropkick, flying knee, and running shooting star press finishes Dangerboy.
Dangerboy must take the walk of shame! CJ Esparza pins Dangerboy at 9:10 mins.
Rich and Esparza kicks Brett down, CJ chops Brett in his corner, suplex, but Brett reverses it into a spinning neckbreaker. CJ dodges, facebreaker, backbreaker, flatliner...avoided! Brett flips into his feet, kick to the face gets two. Brett with the torture rack, runs forwards and delivers a Samoan Drop, moonsault follows getting two. Rich with an uppercut who's not the legal man. Rich gets the tag, snap mare and PUNT gets two. Rich with a hammerlock swinging neckbreaker gets two. Tag, CJ misfires a springboard clothesline, quick rollup and CJ is gone.
CJ Esparza must take the walk of shame! Brett Gakiya pins CJ Esparza at 12:05 mins.
CJ claims two, though it was a fast count. Brett tries to tie Rich up for the pin. Brett with a suplex. Rich with a hard forearm after the missed knee, Rich with the brainbuster. Rich decides to have the ref count him out, but he gets up, the DVD skips forward, Rich with a rear headlock...and whoever edited the DVD screwed up, as it appeared they transferred the DVD footage to tape then forgot to chop out the switch of DVDs. Ugh. Brett misses a flying headbutt and almost gets pinned, Rich puts Brett on the top rope, Brett blocks it, but can't do what he was wanting to do...shovedown, missile dropkick by Rich gets two. Brett dodges a charge, Brett moonsaults over Rich, Rich catches him another springboard, Brett with a hard hurraconranna and gets the pin! High workrate match, no one hung about too long.
WINNER and SOLE SURVIVOR: Brett Gakiya pin -> 16:35 mins. ***¾
Survivor Series Match
Kenny O'Brien, Rip Mystic, Cheapshot McGrot & Shamus McNelson, w/ Patrick Mugroin vs. Stumpy, Brian Ealey, Jesse Clark & Gavin Alexander w/ Andy Roberts - Benjamin Taylor comes out and says Andy Roberts can't wrestle due to his injury, but he has their partner ready fresh outta jail. Andy of course has been recovering from a staph infection. Strange pairing, as Mystic is teaming with the guy he took the 3CW Heavyweight title from in a blatant occurrence of angle clash, Shamus McNelson. You say different fed, different angles, but that argument is blown out of the water because they are using this survivor series match in GAW to continue building the match with Rip Mystic going against the man he's wrestling the NEXT DAY in 3CW for the heavyweight belt Brian Ealey. They are basically taking the angle that started in 3CW over to UVW where Mystic interfered in a match between Danger Doug Fraze vs. Brian Ealey, and continued it in GAW. Of course, Danger interfered in the Mystic vs. Ealey match in the last 3CW show that was held. There hasn't been another 3CW event since at the time of this writing. Ealey and Mystic will indeed start. Mystic manhandles Ealey to the corner, but Ealey fires back, whip backdrop but Mystic lands on his feet, dropkick on the knee! Mystic tags Shamus, whip clothesline and Ealey is flips inside out! Shamus with a poke, Ealey tries to whip him, reverse but he hits a side elbow. Tag Stumpy, Kenny in, clothesline, legdrop by Kenny and runs away. Jesse and Cheapshot tag in. Jesse clothesline, suplex, tag Ealey, he goes up, flying elbow, tunes up the band, Mystic grabs him however, and several guys jump in the ring, Stumpy powerbombs McGrot, cover gets two. Mystic tags in, corner ram, whip across, cartwheel backsplash. Mystic with a slam, elbow gets two. Mystic slam, he goes up, moonsault MISSED! Ealey stomps his foot, superkick and he gets the pin. Oh no way!
Rip Mystic has been evicted! Ealey pins Mystic at 5:55 mins.
Dickie Williams shows up, Kenny O'Brien dumps him out, and Williams whacks Ealey with a kendo stick! Mystic gets his own shot, and I openly question the refs allowing this. Well I can say Shad & Chad Tally are not only green, but they don't know the basics of reffing. Sammy Da Bull says I'm being too hard on them. Geez, well I'll remember that when you complain about a bad call in a Chicago Bears game. Dickie pins Ealey, and Mystic attacks Dickie Williams with the stick, and superkicks him...doing the beatdown at our table! Arrgh! I guess Ealey's been counted out, but this was ridiculous.
Brian Ealey has been evicted! Kenny O'Brien beat Ealey by countout at 6:50 mins.
Stumpy and McGrot in the ring, Stumpy with an armbar, shoulderblock, tag Gavin as I argue the stupidity of the hardcore title. Gavin with a BIG SPLASH, reverse DDT, suplex. McGrot with a rake and tags Kenny, clothesline, elbow gets two. Tag Stumpy and Shamus. Shoulderblock has no effect, Shamus with a black hole slam and upsets Stumpy.
Stumpy has been evicted! Shamus pins Stumpy at 9:55 mins.
Jesse jumps in, pounds away and hits a DDT. Jesse with an ugly running knee, tag Gavin, double team Russian legsweep and clothesline gets the pin.
Shamus McNelson has been evicted! Gavin pins Shamus at 10:45 mins.
McGrot jumps in and pounds Gavin but gets shoved off. McGrots shots have no effect and Gavin chops him. Tag Jesse, double team wheelbarrow legdrop gets the pin.
Cheapshot McGrot has been evicted! Jesse pins McGrot at 12 mins.
Kenny avoids Jesse, but runs into Gavin. Kenny hits a clothesline on Gavin, tries to spinebuster Jesse but it might have been reversed into a DDT, both are down. Kenny fireman's carry into a sitout powerslam and he's gone.
Jesse Clark has been evicted! Kenny pins Jesse at 13:15 mins.
Andy Roberts keeps wanting to hold Gavin back. Kenny with a poke, whip across, splash in the corner, second one misses. Gavin has the arm and tries to lock in a submission hold, Kenny slips out, they stumble about and Kenny hits the mat after bumping into Gavin. Gavin with a side elbow but crashes to the mat himself. Jesse Clark apparently is injured, it seems that spinebuster went wrong. Gavin growls at Kenny, Andy on the apron, Gavin and Kenny slug it out on the floor, the ref is counting, Jesse walks over and stomps Kenny. Andy tries to calm Gavin down, gee why you holding him back? Kenny grabs Jesse in a sleeper, Andy with a superkick on Kenny and the ref finally throws it out. And geez, this was a complete and total clusterfrick in how it was booked with screwball officiating by two guys that had NO IDEA what they were doing. The Tally's need to go to reffing school badly. Gavin comes back for some parting shots on Kenny, Gavin is screaming for JC Michaels as Kenny is cowering from Andy Roberts.
NO SURVIVORS: Double DQ -> 16:50 mins. ¾*
The aftermath, Rip Mystic really came out the big loser in everything. Mystic walked out of NMW because someone had the harebrained idea to co-promote with Déjà vu--that was cancelled--but Mystic left anyway because they wouldn't rebook him on the card he cancelled out of. Then the documentary "For Glory & Gashes" was changed with only his side of the story and NMW owners at the time did not want to give their side of it choosing once again to be thought of as the bad guys in all of it...leaving folks like me having to tell the story as a third party observer. Though he won the 3CW heavyweight title, 3CW ended up with no facility to run shows, and thus Rip Mystic is not wrestling anymore while having to repair his family relations. This was just one of many disappointing news items that have come out this year. As for the others, Stumpy would win tag gold with Dennis Devine, as would Gavin Alexander teaming with Richard Biggs against JC Michaels & Jonathan Scott. McGrot would win the NBWA No Limits title, Andy Roberts would come back from injury and win the NGW PC Title, Jesse Clark breaks away from Petey Clark for good and wins the Central States title. Shamus McNelson is stuck without a fed to wrestle now that 3CW is on indefinite shutdown. And Brian Ealey would continue to do incredibly stupid things to get himself in more hot water, which got his band yanked off the air from WQLZ's Bandamonium. And I of course want nothing to do with him.
Dickie Williams comes out after intermission for an interview but just after we start, we get interrupted by the next match...and ugh, how'd they screw THAT up?
Survivor Series Match
Richard Biggs, Kid Crush, Petey Clark & Aaron Matthews vs. JC Michaels, Jaxson Pride, Tru Talent Jonathan Scott & Alex Monroe - Petey and Monroe start the match. Basic wrestling to start, Clark throws him, shoulderblock, Monroe leapfrog but Clark stuck his leg up for the LOW BLOW in what I thought was a bad collision, but really was by design. Test of strength gets nowhere, Pride in, Clark runs the ropes and DDTs him down for two. Tag Kid Crush, Pride sidesteps a splash, chop…and I spot two pieces of tape across his torso…what the? Pride with the spinning knee neckbreaker. Pride with a shoulderbreaker, tag JC, slam Pride, double team splash and legdrop that has Kid Crush living up to his name…and not in a good way…
Kid Crush has been terminated! JC Michaels pins Kid Crush at 5:05 mins.
Aaron Matthews jumps in but JC throws him in the corner and hits the avalanche! Each member of EOP takes turns chopping Matthews. Monroe though gets rammed into the turnbuckle, Aaron hits dropkicks, clothesline, grabs an armbar, but JC breaks it up. Pride with a running dropkick in the corner, tag Monroe, lungblower, holds it for Pride to moonsault on top of them…one arm cover gets two! Matthews hits a crossbody but Monroe rolls thru for two. Tag Biggs, slam, spinebuster, Clark in for a springboard moonsault for two…broken up. Matthews tags in, German suplex, goes up, shooting star press…MISSED! Dang almost didn’t get the rotation. Monroe crucifix into a piledriver!!! Yikes! Matthews is FINISHED!!!
Aaron Matthews has been terminated! Alex Monroe pins Aaron Matthews at 10:25 mins.
Monroe nails Biggs and Clark before they can get at him, Biggs though gets a BOOT, legdrop gets two. Biggs whip to the corner and misses the charge, Pride in with a flying punch from the top, legbreaker by Pride gets one. Tag Clark, chops traded, slugfest, kneelift. Biggs comes in for the doubleteam…Styles Clash splash onto Pride and that made away with him!
Jaxson Pride has been terminated! Petey Clark pins Pride at 14:10 mins.
John Scott in and clobbers Clark, tag JC, snap mare, dropkick to the back gets two. JC slam, tag Monroe, kneedrop, Juvy Driver, running shooting star gets two. Clark with a spin kick to the head, tag Biggs, spinebuster gets the pin.
Alex Monroe has been terminated! Biggs pins Monroe at 15:20 mins.
JC Michaels in, flatliner on Biggs and he’s gone! The reigning CS champ pinned!
Richard Biggs has been terminated! JC pins Biggs at 15:35 mins.
John Scott goes after Petey, spinning pedigree on him and it’s all over!
WINNERS and SOLE SURVIVORS: JC Michaels & Jonathan Scott pin -> 16:10 mins. ***¼
The aftermath, Biggs would lose his CS title to Alex Monroe in an elimination match, Truly Everything would go on to win the GAW tag titles, then split up as a team after losing them to Richard Biggs & Gavin Alexander. Aaron Matthews would go on to win the SLW heavyweight title in a ladder match. Petey Clark of course would become the new trend. The rest of this comes after the rumble.
Dickie Williams comes out again to speak, he says because of head trauma and has the beginnings of brain damage. Due to all of the blows he's taken to the head he's gonna have to retire. Next month will be his last match in GAW, and now we get another interruption. It's Conner Riley, and he says no one cares. He wants to wrestle Dickie for the hardcore belt. Dickie says he don't know what kind of match it is, it's a barbed wire board death match. That match never came to be, because Dickie suffered another blow to the head wrestling Max Power the next day in 3CW in a street fight so he had to stop then and there.
And now we come to the most controversial match of the show, due to all the wrestling politics involved with these players. Okay, allegedly this match being the "main event" of UWS was where Blake Steel got dubbed a "wrestling god" over at GAW and marked the beginning of the end of his NMW tenure. Errrrr...okay. First off, I dunno how a survivor series match makes someone a wrestling god. Two, on the claim he shouldn't had been in this match at all because it wasn't earned--when should this match had happened during the show? First? Argument is kinda weak, considering he's been put in the semi-main event slot multiple times in NMW, and that seven other guys are in the match. If it was a singles match for the heavyweight title, then you'd have a basis for an argument. As it stands Blake has only worked GAW twice and isn't planning to go back anytime soon. So I'm not convinced on this "wrestling god" stuff. Matt Boston, I'm shocked he's here, because GAW could never figure out how to contact and book him. KC of course holds both the GAW and NMW heavyweight titles, and he was gone from NMW for six months over how things went the last few months of 2005. Ruffington is just Ruffington. Danger Doug Fraze, lots and lots of politics with him. He so badly wanted to buy NMW, but came up short somehow five separate times, and the final time the blowup was so bad he was sent packing. So he's in GAW now, and whatever NMW was afraid of, we're gonna see what he had in mind cause he has the chance to implement his ideas in GAW. So he comes out and says his first partner he had his battles in the good ole times of NMW but he wasn't "Elite enough" to be in NMW--okay, that would had flown over the heads of everyone else, but that’s a shot at Mr. Elite Jake Manning and their rivalry over a lady. Ironically this lady’s had her wedding just before this show, and a different Tank became the husband. Anyway, he calls him the bigger better deal, JJ Tank! And he's been out for a year and a half. The second person, he was his former tag partner then had a wild feud, NWQ! He's been inactive for over a year as well, mostly because of a bad shoulder and really could not sign on with anyone else because of it. Fraze says those two should had main evented in NMW every night but couldn't due to the bureaucracy. Finally the last person he has he's been fighting with various tag partners the past five years, due to copyright infringement he can't call him by his actual name, so here's Derrick Frogan. Eric Logan is here?? Wow. This is the third match he’s had today in this heat, he had two mid-afternoon out in Chatham. I of course don't buy the copyright infringement stuff and refer to him by his actual name and deal with any griping on my own. So it's the NMW alumni vs. NMW here.
Survivor Series Match
GAW & NMW Heavyweight Champ Hardcore KC, Matt Boston, Blake Steel & Eric Ruffington vs. Danger Doug Fraze, New World Quinten, JJ Tank & Eric Logan - Team Danger charges the ring and Team KC scatters. Logan does his trademark backflip from the top. Danger starts with Matt Boston. Boston just come back from a broken heel here. Boston gets nowhere with the lockup. Boston says he had him, but gets shoved backward. Boston wants Tank, but KC comes in, so Tank slams KC, suplex and NWQ tags in. NWQ pounds him, trifecta suplex gets two. NWQ with a spinebuster, tag Logan, slingshot senton gets two. E-Lo chops and dumps KC out, he throws him into the post, chops and has a fan chop him once, toss in gets two. Tag JJ, suplex on KC, legdrop, but misses the second. KC hits a dropkick, tag Steel, he works the ankle as I comment about him moonlighting as a country music singer...which causes him to look at me funny. Steel works the leg, and does a leg takedown as I note that he had a compound fracture on one of those legs years ago. Ruffington tags in, shoulderblock does nothing, so Ruff trips him and he does the leg jam. Tag Boston, as I scoff at Kandi's comment about Fraze getting his team from the NMW nursing home. Boston drives the knee into the damaged leg, then locks in a leg scissors. Boston swats Logan, KC in and they make a wish. The ref picks up a leg for no reason, KC pulls Tank away from his corner, kneedrop. Tank slugs back, whip side slam but flips him over face first, he takes too long to tag, KC grabs the ankle lock and he taps!
JJ Tank has been eliminated! KC submission over JJ Tank at 11:30 mins.
NWQ in and swings away at everyone, he checks on Tank, Boston rolls him up and gets two. Boston with an arm takedown and NWQ is grabbing his shoulder in considerable pain. He's had problems with a seperated shoulder, may have just suffered another one. Boston covers for two, he locks in an armbar and puts on a crossarm breaker for the submission.
New World Quinten has been eliminated! Boston submission over NWQ at 12:45 mins.
Logan in and suplexes Boston for two. Northern lights suplex gets two. Boston elbows out, goes for a wheelbarrow bulldog but it's blocked, LOW BLOW Boston! Tag Ruff, slam gets two. And Ruff's teammates hop down to the floor. Ruff pounds away on Logan in the corner, but Logan with an inverted atom drop for two. Spinning heel kick Logan gets two. Ruff is in the wrong corner, Logan whips him across, shoulderblock, F5 follows and Logan pins him.
Eric Ruffington has been eliminated! Logan pins Ruffington at 15:45 mins.
Logan yanks Steel in, clothesline gets two. Logan splashes Steel in the corner, Logan tries something but just dumps him, senton off the top misses gets two for Steel! Steel superkick gets two! Logan tosses Steel, Steel on the apron, Logan tries to dropkick him off, Steel headscissors him on the floor! Steel bows to the crowd, toss in, KICK WHAM DDT! Rear chinlock, sleeper hold, Logan hangs on, Steel neckbreakers him down for two. Steel goes up, but gets powerbombed down by Logan. Tag Fraze, spinebuster and Steel is pinned!
Blake Steel has been eliminated! Danger pins Steel at 20:20 mins.
Matt Boston in, Danger KICK WHAM PEDIGREE, POWERBOMB!!! GOODBYE!!!
Matt Boston has been eliminated! Danger pins Boston at 20:40 mins.
And KC is alone. KC eludes Danger and grabs the ankle lock! But he manages to get the tag and Logan crossbody from the top gets two. Drop toe hold Logan, 217 follows but gets two. Side kick KC gets two. Logan with a toss neckbreaker and gets the pin!
WINNERS and SOLE SURVIVORS: Eric Logan & Danger Doug Fraze pin -> 23:15 mins. ***
The rest of Team Danger comes out to celebrate the victory. Match overall wasn't too bad, it was a treat and very surreal at the same time. The aftermath, Danger Doug wins the GAW Heavyweight title in September, Eric Logan wins the NMW Heavyweight title in November. Ruffington & Steel become tag partners in CCW, NGW, and SLW...winning the SLW tag belts. Steel of course is out of NMW after a dispute with the promoter. Boston steps away from wrestling after September due to his heel not being fully functional to perform at the level he wants. NWQ and JJ Tank go back into retirement from wrestling.
Divided We Brawl Battle Royal
Rules for this one, 15 men start, as people get eliminated, more wrestlers in waiting come to the ring to take their place until there's only one man standing. It's a variation on the royal rumble of sorts limiting how many can be in the ring at once. Apparently we have someone in the ring who wasn’t in the matches earlier wearing a red shirt and black shorts. I don’t recognize him. Kenny and Gavin are the first to go as they brawl to the back. Dickie Williams and Conner Riley are spotted brawling in the crowd as Conner didn’t make it into the ring. Apriq gets tossed by Jesse Clark. CJ Esparza dumps Axis. Brett Gakiya tosses CJ over, but he hangs on, and pulls Kyle Rich out, Brett out, and they pull CJ down. Shamus McNelson dumps Jesse Clark. Jaxson Pride dumps Cheapshot McGrot. More guys are coming in the match. Richard Biggs dumps Jason Vendetta. Jaxson Pride clotheslines Dennis Devine out. Pride dumps Biggs out. Stumpy charges and eliminates himself. John Scott is clobbering Ushman on the floor. Marcus St. Christopher gets jumped by Jewels Vega, Pride dumps Drake. Ushman gets tossed, another unknown person enters (DaCobra maybe?) Vega dumps MSC, Aaron Matthews DDTs Dangerboy on the apron and they hit the floor. Pride dumps El Mechanico. Jeckel gets tossed by Bobby Baker. Jef Harris sends Calisto to the floor. Jaxson Pride forcibly throws Matt Boston IN the ring! Danger Doug Fraze eliminates the guy I think is DaCobra. Alex Monroe dropkicks Bishop Hernandez out. Jaxson Pride throws Matt Boston out. The unknown guy in the red shirt and black trunks is still in the match. Blake Steel comes out but Eric Ruffington attacks him from behind! Monroe dumps Bobby Baker. Ruffington throws Matt Boston for a spin. Danger Doug Fraze tosses the guy in the red shirt. Monroe suplexes Blake Steel out, Ruffington pulls him down. Pride tosses Harris. With whomever else that forfeited, we’re down to Jaxson Pride, Alex Monroe, Danger Doug and Petey Clark. Hardcore KC looms around ringside. Danger and Pride square off, as Monroe and Clark fight it out. Monroe hangs on after being tossed. Pride, Clark, and Monroe dump Fraze out. Clark and Jaxson clobber each other, DDT Pride. KC is beating down Danger Doug, has the ankle lock! Double team suplex by Pride & Monroe. Clark with a flying forearm on Pride, suplex on Monroe. LOW BLOW Pride, Clark gets tossed, but Pride throws Monroe out! Started the match, finished the match. Final count of entries, 36.
WINNER: Jaxson Pride -> 11:55 mins. N/A
Monroe wants to know what the deal is, but Pride kicks him and hits the fisherman’s bomb piledriver! Pride stands tall, as JC Michaels and John Scott look on and I’m making no sense of it. Why was Monroe kicked out of the EOP? Jealousy? Wonder what Miss Black thinks about this?
The aftermath, with Jaxson Pride winning this rumble, GAW would have battle royals on the next two shows, Danger Doug winning a 20-30 man rumble, and Truk Thompson winning a 29-man royal rumble in September. So the three of them faced off at Wrestlecade and Danger came out the winner. Alex Monroe broke away from EOP, John Scott seemed to side with him against Pride, so the quartet are all doing their own thing. I usually don’t rate battle royals.
The Verdict: Oh wow, whatta hodgepodge. We had 50 wrestlers perform in this show. And having so many it was practically the who’s who of the central Illinois wrestling scene, with a few guests from Wisconsin. Obviously, the heat made a mess of everything, and a few matches went lightening quick. There were good parts, and there were bad parts...really bad parts. This show also overshadowed the Blue Collar Brawl anniversary show and made its Royal Rumble less significant. It didn't help we had a battle royal at the August show either. So we had three rumbles in a row, and we had quite a bit of turnover as the NGW wrestlers had to leave because shows were conflicting with GAW's, same with NBWA's and NMW's. Five months later, the order of things changed and changed dramatically. And it's unclear what will turn out in 2007 after a surreal 2006.
Thumbs in the middle.

WINNER: Jaxson Pride -> 11:55 mins. N/A
Monroe wants to know what the deal is, but Pride kicks him and hits the fisherman’s bomb piledriver!
