NGW Recap 12/16
I decided not to write the full-blown rap sheet for this show, since it's just the leadup to their major one in two weeks, but aside from Doug Devore's recap on how he saw things, I am writing from my perpective on the action.
10-Man Battle Royal for what is supposedly a title shot at the PC championship. Jessie Clark is dumped first, Petey Clark & Johnny Justice are dumped next. The new guy, Average Joe Leonard who I think was that ring attendant that Jester was harassing for a little while and has a PC title shot in two weeks is tossed next. Kenny O'Brien is dumped fifth, then the four guys smaller than JC Michaels gang up on him to get him out. Gilbert Lewis, Dewey Dawson team up against the caped duo of Blake Steel and Desperado Mexicanno, but the Geek Council get tossed and rushing from the back to attack them are Stumpy & Dennis Devine...where their brawl goes to the back. Blake Steel vs. Des Mex, crossbody from the top rope while wearing the cape gets the pinfall.
WINNER: Blake Steel pin -> 5:25 mins. N/A
Sinnister runs out from the back and attacks Des Mex...a referee gets in there and calls it a match? Well it only lasts about two minutes or so as Raul Montanegro squashes him with a big splash.
WINNER: Raul Montanegro pin -> 2 mins. ½*
TripC comes out, and says he's brought back Sinnister to take out Apocolypse on the 30th. Jester comes out to boast that he could had beaten Kyle Rich any time he wanted, but I yell at him you lost the last time you faced off. Jester then spews a bunch of BS at me mocking my internet reporting skills, much of which I couldn't hear clearly due to the speakers being on the other side of the gym, but this leads up to TripC pairing Jester with Rich since Sinnister is already occupied with other things to take on the tag champs later in the show...and the match happens now.
NGW Tag Champs Stumpy & Dennis Devine vs. Jester & Kyle Rich - Rich and Jester actually make an effort to win the match though they tag each other in the face. Eventually the Geek Council run out and attack the tag champs from behind and it becomes a riot. Match had some miscues that made some people look bad or stupid such as a suicide dive that took too long to execute.
NO WINNER: NO CONTEST -> 12:30 mins. *¾
Dewey powerbombs Devine through a table, Stumpy is hurled into the bleachers by Gilbert, while Kyle Rich and Jester brawl in the ring...security and refs try to break up the melee but TripC had to come out and yell at everyone to stop or be suspended. He then proceeds to make a table match for the tag titles on the 30th between the geeks and the former geeks.
Morton Von Prose vs. Apocolypse - MVP gets some offense in but Apoc tries to squeeze him with the bearhug, MVP escapes, tries to ropewalk with the armbar emulating Undertaker, but he gets armdragged across the ring and then falls to what looks to be a bearhug DDT.
WINNER: Apocolypse pin -> 7:10 mins. **
Sinnister rushes out to attack Apoc, but Apoc leaves him laying. TripC comes back out with large candy canes and brings Brett Gakiya & CJ Esparza to the ring. He complains about their "bad attitudes" by not being here last Saturday...well what do you expect when the blizzard postpones a show into a scheduling conflict with a bunch of people? Anyway, he says he's putting them in a candy cane match against Santa Claus...but this Santa is...Big Pappa! He hands out stuff to all the kids, then Zero G comes over looking for something, but Pappa says they've been bad boys so they don't even get a lump of coal...and they attack him!
Big Pappa vs. Midwest Mob's Zero Gravity - Brett Gakiya & CJ Esparza - Already people are griping at me for invoking 0G in Peoria, gimme a break. Here's a prediction for ya, I think 0G will be the first team to unite the NMW and NGW tag belts. The featherweights have their way with Pappa until they stupidly try to double suplex him...when the two of them combined are only HALF his weight...and you know what happens afterward. Pappa tosses them around a bit then tries to toss them both over the top, they hang on and do a double springboard dropkick. But they could only do so much before one of them gets black hole slammed and pinned.
WINNER: Big Pappa pin -> 5:50 mins. **½
Andy Roberts vs. Blake Steel - Battle of rookies here, as Blake gets the upper hand and takes the time to fetch his cape and put it back on before climbing the top rope, and Andy crotches him and sends him to the floor. After a couple near falls, Average Joe Leonard comes out, Andy jabbers at him, Steel sneaks behind for the rollup and pinfall. Andy throws a fit and beats up Steel afterward with superkicks.
WINNER: Blake Steel pin -> 6:30 mins. **¾
Josh Powers vs. Cherry Malone didn't happen, as Cherry is suffering from a sprained ankle. Josh didn't like my "Cherry Malone Fan Club" sign and tried to take it away from me. I didn't let him. Cherry comes out on crutches and blames Josh for her injury. Josh says I was in Peoria last weekend, she says he had someone attack her at a party after the NMW show she was at. So Josh slaps her HARD to the mat and locks in a figure four on the bad foot. Big Pappa who beat him last week runs to the ring to run him off, 0G rush the ring to attack HIM, Johnny Justice rushes out to even out the sides and stop the assault, as I yell at Josh for striking an injured woman and get into an argument. TripC comes back out and makes a survivor series match for the 30th with all of the people involved in the fight.
NGW Heavyweight Champ Ryan Phoenix vs. Axis - Kinda even, Axis hits his Axis Tilt, but Phoenix late in the match hits a vertabreaker on Axis, and he lands on the side of his head and neck in a SCARY spot. That didn't get the pin, but the STYLES CLASH that he is throwing a fit over me shouting out instead of Crash'N'Burn gets the pin.
WINNER: Ryan Phoenix pin -> 8:15 mins. ***
Apocolypse comes out, Axis who's holding his neck is begging to be left alone, but Apoc pumphandle slams him down. Sinnister runs back out to attack him, but once again Apoc gets the better of them and pulls out a glove with a lot of broken glass and tacks embedded in it! And he proceeds to tear up Sinnister's forehead with it, leaving him a bloody mess, and Apoc smears his blood on his face and arms...GROSS!!!
That's it...
