Driving in snow is no fun...
Hmmm...two nights in a row I’ve driven up toward Peoria. The prior night I went to the Hammerlock show and it was rough going home as the snow started falling. Alas, I stupidly didn’t pack the notebook after picking up the pile of stuff I brought. I have filmed this entire show with my camcorder, so material from this show will be showing up on Vidilife.com eventually (Youtube has that 10 minute time limit so I’m not bothering with splitting up the videos).
Live from Bellevue Plaza Gym. Your ring announcer is Bobby Lee, who’s sounding quite hoarse tonight. Your commentary team is Doug Devore and Scooter. Scooter welcomes us to the festivities and does a rundown of the card, mentioning Midwest Mob is here. He refers to the spillover from Cold War.
Catalyst Cory Carter’s army come out, Ryan Phoenix, Chris Hazard and Andy Roberts. They boast and brag about themselves, and what they’ll do tonight, then TripC compliments his men. Hazard notes the Trifecta means three and we’ve got four. Heck, change your name to the Quadfecta! They think about dumping Andy, but Andy suggests they call themselves the Four Horsemen. Ryan says how about Nation of Domination. TripC suggests the TripC Foundation. Hazard says Disciples of Apocolypse. They laugh. TripC then says we call ourselves the Midwest Mob. Well the real Midwest Mob come out. TripC scoffs at having a match against them, but instead forces the three to wrestle each other for a contract. Bleh.
Triple Threat Match
Brett Gakiya vs. CJ Esparza vs. Axis – Brett dropkicks Axis, CJ dropkicks Axis, Axis slugs CJ, Axis & CJ end up in the corner, Brett can’t get footing but headscissors CJ down. Brett sidesteps Axis dropkicking CJ. Brett nails Axis for two. Axis tries to tilt Brett but eats a knee. Axis to the floor, CJ suplexes Brett into the rope, then dropkicks him into Axis. CJ charges, suicide dive! CJ puts Axis in, slingshot legdrop gets two. Brett is pulled in, chopfest in the corner, Brett Russian legsweep on Axis, into a rings of Saturn! CJ though slams Brett onto Axis, moonsaults on them for two. Axis whips Brett, tosses him into CJ for the reverse DDT and does a regular to Axis for two. Brett puts CJ on top, knocks Brett to the floor, CJ knocks Axis down, but Brett hurraconrannas CJ into Axis and gets two. Brett misses a sidekick in the corner, CJ hangs Brett in the corner, Axis with the tilt on CJ, Axis goes up and plants his boot on the back of Brett’s head and rides it down to the mat and pins him!
WINNER: Axis pin -> 7:10 mins. **½
I guess Axis gets to stay, but the other two members have to go? Okay effort, no where close to topping their other prior encounters that they’ve had. Bobby Lee is having more trouble speaking.
Disrobe Your Beau Match
Josh Powers vs. Cherry Malone – Well Josh is wearing a suit, thought this was supposed to be a tux vs. evening gown? Oh well. Cherry is wearing just a shirt and dress, which means Josh has to have a bunch of things stripped from him to win. This is gonna be surreal. Crowd is behind Cherry, and she slaps him. She throws him down and pulls off the jacket. Drop toe hold from Cherry and tries for the shoes, but ends up clotheslining him down then gets the belt off! She trips him into the rope and belts him one! Powers likes it chant, and Cherry with a suplex. She pulls the shoes off, then claps them into his head! Cherry with a backsplash into Powers in the corner, then pulls the pants off! Oh geez, boxers with hearts all over them! Josh hits her and throws her down, suplex, makes a wish and pulls the skirt off. Josh with a neckbreaker, legdrop, reverse headlock, then pulls the shirt off. Oh boy, Cherry’s disrobed…but the match continues? Cherry slaps him back, whip and clotheslines, Josh though drops her on the top rope, then wraps the belt around her neck! Arrgh, and Morton Von Prose breaks it up, shoves Josh but Cherry LOW BLOWS MVP! Josh and Cherry hug and this is a no contest. Well he FINALLY admits that he loves Cherry! They kiss and leave.

It’s supposed to be the Jester’s Court for the next segment, but he’s not here, so Doug Devore is here to interview Kyle Rich. Kyle talks about the injuries he got last show, but he’s fine now. Devore asks about the one title that’s eluded Rich, the heavyweight title. Kyle is tired of being told he’s not won the big one. He mentions the teams that couldn’t be beaten, the Red Sox beating the Yankees, and the Cubs…well he should had mentioned the White Sox here. Kyle wants to wrestle Ryan Phoenix again to prove to Jester, and everyone else he can win the big one. Well Big Pappa comes out instead, with a big limp, as his knee gave out in a match against Diego Corleone. I’m surprised he’s even here! Pappa wonders if the big one is him. Kyle recalls their Perfect Ten days. TripC and his boys come out, and TripC makes a match Big Pappa and someone other than Kyle Rich against Hazard & Pheonix, but Kyle Rich gets to wrestle the Spotlight Spencer Powers! Besides that, Kyle Rich can be the real number one, in the Luck of the Draw Royal Rumble. Oh geez. Rich says he won the last one at #6.
Jynx vs. Prince Mustafa Ali – Jynx drove five hours from NE Indiana to be here tonight! Ali I hadn’t seen before, but wrestles in Indiana and Chicago. Ali gets into an argument with fans off the bat. Crowd mocks him with a camel coffee chant, I think. Basic wrestling to start, Jynx armdrags and a dropkick. Ali keeps arguing with people on my side. Jailbait chant, I don’t get it. Jynx armdrags and a side kick sends Ali outside. Jynx slingshots Ali in, but he lands feet first and hits a neckbreaker. Magic carpet chant now, he’s not Shawn Darvari! Sunset flip for two, but Ali clotheslines him down! Ali with a snap mare and headlock. Ali yanks him by the hair, whip to the corner, Jihad yell, and a enzuigiri kick for two. Ali runs into a boot however, but takes down Jynx with a fisherman’s buster for two. Ali goes for the superplex, shovedown, Jynx double stomp to the back gets two! Ali though with the BeeLee Driver, and rolls out to take a towel off a fan who was wearing it as a turbin, rolls in and gets only two. Jynx with a spinkick. Jynx hits some clotheslines, standing moonsault, standing shooting star gets two. Jynx with a slam, goes up, whisper in the wind MISSES! Ali picks him up, Jynx catches him, but Ali slips out, LOW BLOW, and into the camel clutch! Jynx taps! Ali argues with fans on his way out.

Chris Hazard & NGW Heavyweight Champ Ryan Phoenix vs. Big Pappa & Black Dragon – I dunno how Pappa is gonna do this on one leg. Paired with Dragon here is unusual to say the least. Dragon and Phoenix start off, Dragon wrestles him down to the mat, as the crowd chants something offensive. Hazard kicks Dragon, Ryan with a high knee, tag Hazard. Haz works the arm, Dragon gets some rollups for two, Haz powerslams him for that, one hand cover gets two. Ryan tagged in, Dragon takes him down and tags Pappa. Uh oh, Ryan runs into him and hits the mat. Strength test but Ryan kicks the bad leg, whip to the corner, but Pappa knocks Ryan down and doesn’t tag out. Haz tagged in, and classic Midnight Express crossbody/legroll takes him down. Haz works the leg, Pappa misses a splash in the corner, and Haz wraps the leg around the post! Haz takes out Dragon and continues the assault on the leg. Ryan with a leglock, and pulls off the protective gear! Ryan grapevines the leg and puts on a chinlock! Ryan charges him but gets backdropped, Haz in to keep working the leg, hits a high knee, clothesline, goes up, flying elbow gets two. Haz whips him, they collide, but a second whip and Pappa hits the Black Hole Slam! Tags are made, Dragon misses Haz who SPEARS Pappa! Ryan tries for something, but Dragon blocks it, Ryan lifts Dragon over the top, tries to suplex him in, and the Mastermind runs out to grab the foot and allow the pin! What’s he doing here?

Dennis Devine vs. Party Time Ray Hez – Ray hands out streamers to fans, then fetches a beer…and the streamers fly! Basic wrestling, Dennis drops an elbow and hurts himself on Ray’s back, then Ray moves outta the way on the next one. Dennis slaps him, Hez dropkicks him in the back, and gets backcracked on the way down! Backbreaker follows for two. Dennis with a flying headscissors that nearly sent Ray to the floor, boot choke against the top rope and a dropkick to the knees sends him down! Devine with a neckbreaker on the top rope for two! Neck snap by Devine and he curses out the crowd before a one boot cover for two. Devine with a spinkick, tries to pin with the ropes for two. Devine cartwheel backsplash, charges for the bronco buster but gets a pop bottle in the groin from Hez! Sloppy atomic drop, moonsault missed, but he gets a spinebuster for two. Sinnister & Chris Brown suddenly run in to attack both for the SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT FINISH AT…
NO WINNER: No contest -> 6:30 mins. *
Bland with the non-finish. Brown has to try twice to throw Devine over the top onto Ray Hez. Whoops. Sinnister gets the mike and says no one’s man enough to take the tag belts back from them. Stumpy ain’t here, and Devine can’t do it. The Geek Council answer the challenge however, which causes them to laugh.
Faces of Fear – Sinnister Raul Montenegro & Monster Chris Brown vs. The Geek Council – Dewey Dawson & Gilbert Lewis – Omega Mu throws candy to a bunch of people. Dewey can’t hop the top rope as usual, and is quite battle scared from a fight with Tracy Smothers. GC work over Brown’s arm, until Brown clotheslines Dewey and tags Raul. Dewey trips him into the corner however, the Council proceed to work the leg. Raul yanks Lewis to the floor, Brown walks over and shoves Omega Mu to the floor! That’s NOT how you treat a woman! Brown works Lewis in the corner as Robby the Ref takes her to the back. Brown powerslam gets two. Sinnister in, double hip toss but they throw him up and DOWN HARD! Raul with a knee, chokes, then sits on him! Brown in, hard clothesline, one hand cover gets two. Raul with an axe on the head of Lewis, the ref has a hold of Dewey, Raul with some kicks but misses the senton by a mile! Dewey gets the tag, splashes Raul in the corner, Raul blocks the whip, but the GC double clothesline him, double backdrop gets two. Brown in, the FOF double legsweep choke Dewey down, then take out Lewis, and they pin them in a pile for the pin.

People’s Choice Championship – No DQ Four-Way Match
(C)Andy Roberts vs. Average Joe Leonard vs. Blake Steel vs. Morton Von Prose – No DQ, but you might as well call it a hardcore match. Well the opposition go right after Andy chopping him down. They pair off though, Joe dropkicks Andy, MVP puts Blake against the wall and dropkicks him. Joe gets a ladder, Andy kicks it into him. MVP slams Blake into the food table and out the door! MVP drops Blake on a chair, Andy legsweeps Joe into the ladder but misses and elbow. Blake with a beltshot on MVP, Joe smashes the arm in the ladder, and that arm may be broke. Blake slams Joe on the ladder, MVP throws Andy into the post and into the bleachers! Joe suplexes Blake into the ladder getting one. MVP pulls Joe out and slams him into the bell! Blake clotheslines Andy, MVP slam Joe into the bleachers and legdrops him! MVP flying axe from the bleachers, Blake is thrown into a chair in the corner, MVP in the ring, beltshots by Andy on all three guys! He covers each one but it’s two counts! Andy his holding his elbow, pounds Blake, MVP and Joe slug it out. MVP rock bottoms Joe, Andy pounds Blake, MVP to the top, Josh Powers and Cherry Malone run out and trip him! Geez. Andy dropkicks MVP but he stays up there, Blake cape on goes up, Andy tries the superplex but gets shoves down, Andy shoves Joe outside, Blake misses the crossbody, Andy lines up for the superkick, Joe pulls him out, MVP to the top with the swanton and gets the pin on Blake! Andy Roberts can’t believe it. Wild demolition debry.

Spotlight Spencer Powers vs. Phenomenal Kyle Rich – Just a week ago he was complaining about the Peoria talent influx into NMW. But the hypocrite couldn’t wait to get himself booked in NGW. Crowd chants homo ranger against SSP. Haha. SSP wants cheers but gets booed. Sinnister threw another streamer roll from the back. SSP has the armbar, but Kyle forces a reversal. Kyle with a legscissors into a cover for two. SSP with a shoulderblock, but Kyle trips him up for the headlock. SSP gets control of it, shoots Rich off, leapfrog and SSP grabs his knee. SSP rolls outside and stumbles around. Oh I’m NOT buying this! SSP gets his chair and hits Rich in the gut with it. Where’s the DQ? SSP rams Rich into the post, put in, knees him in the gut, rib breaker gets two. Shoulderblocks in the corner, charges, and SPEARS him! Cover gets two. Rich fires back but gets dropped over the top rope and hits the floor! Rich fights him off outside, back in hits a DDT for two. SSP hits a knee, tries a rope walk armbar but Kyle knocks him off…splash attempt MISSED! SSP stands on the chest across the middle rope and axes it on the way down! Northern Lights suplex SSP gets two. Rich tries the suplex but SSP drops him on the top rope AGAIN. SSP with a legscissors, which draw a chant of you can’t wrestle! Rich pulls out of it, but SSP knees him and locks it in again! SSP yells THIS IS WRESTLING! SSP pulls down the kneepad but misses the shot! Sunset flip gets two. Suplex attempt is blocked, Rich fights out of the ab stretch attempt and hits a full nelson suplex! They’re up at eight, Rich clobbers him, suplex again is blocked, SSP tries for the ab stretch, rollup gets two. Foot jawbreaker Rich, clothesline, and here comes Phoenix, Hazard and TripC for the SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT FINISH AT…
WINNER: Kyle Rich DQ -> 16:10 mins. ***
Rather good submission type of match until the cheapo DQ. Ryan and TripC get knocked together but Hazard SPEARS Rich! SSP gets in TripC’s face for interfering in his match and they start beating him up! The Midwest Mob run out to chase the heels off. Rich and the Mob salute the crowd before leaving and touch fists. SSP runs TripC out from the back though, and gets the ab stretch on him! SSP chews him out after shoving him to the mat and leaves. Scooter and Devore tout the next show on March 3rd and we’re outta here for the night.
The Verdict: It’s a regular house show, so I wasn’t expecting any matches of the year. Attendance was decent at 85, though the goal is always to crack three digits.

Brown works Lewis in the corner as Robby the Ref takes her to the back. Brown powerslam gets two. Sinnister in, double hip toss but they throw him up and DOWN HARD! Raul with a knee, chokes, then sits on him! Brown in, hard clothesline, one hand cover gets two. Raul with an axe on the head of Lewis, the ref has a hold of Dewey, Raul with some kicks but misses the senton by a mile! Dewey gets the tag, splashes Raul in the corner, Raul blocks the whip, but the GC double clothesline him, double backdrop gets two. Brown in, the FOF double legsweep choke Dewey down, then take out Lewis, and they pin them in a pile for the pin.

(C)Andy Roberts vs. Average Joe Leonard vs. Blake Steel vs. Morton Von Prose – No DQ, but you might as well call it a hardcore match. Well the opposition go right after Andy chopping him down. They pair off though, Joe dropkicks Andy, MVP puts Blake against the wall and dropkicks him. Joe gets a ladder, Andy kicks it into him. MVP slams Blake into the food table and out the door! MVP drops Blake on a chair, Andy legsweeps Joe into the ladder but misses and elbow. Blake with a beltshot on MVP, Joe smashes the arm in the ladder, and that arm may be broke. Blake slams Joe on the ladder, MVP throws Andy into the post and into the bleachers! Joe suplexes Blake into the ladder getting one. MVP pulls Joe out and slams him into the bell! Blake clotheslines Andy, MVP slam Joe into the bleachers and legdrops him! MVP flying axe from the bleachers, Blake is thrown into a chair in the corner, MVP in the ring, beltshots by Andy on all three guys! He covers each one but it’s two counts! Andy his holding his elbow, pounds Blake, MVP and Joe slug it out. MVP rock bottoms Joe, Andy pounds Blake, MVP to the top, Josh Powers and Cherry Malone run out and trip him! Geez. Crowd chants homo ranger against SSP. Haha. SSP wants cheers but gets booed. Sinnister threw another streamer roll from the back. SSP has the armbar, but Kyle forces a reversal. Kyle with a legscissors into a cover for two. SSP with a shoulderblock, but Kyle trips him up for the headlock. SSP gets control of it, shoots Rich off, leapfrog and SSP grabs his knee. SSP rolls outside and stumbles around. Oh I’m NOT buying this! SSP gets his chair and hits Rich in the gut with it. Where’s the DQ? SSP rams Rich into the post, put in, knees him in the gut, rib breaker gets two. Shoulderblocks in the corner, charges, and SPEARS him! Cover gets two. Rich fires back but gets dropped over the top rope and hits the floor! Rich fights him off outside, back in hits a DDT for two. SSP hits a knee, tries a rope walk armbar but Kyle knocks him off…splash attempt MISSED! SSP stands on the chest across the middle rope and axes it on the way down! Northern Lights suplex SSP gets two. Rich tries the suplex but SSP drops him on the top rope AGAIN. SSP with a legscissors, which draw a chant of you can’t wrestle! Rich pulls out of it, but SSP knees him and locks it in again! SSP yells THIS IS WRESTLING! SSP pulls down the kneepad but misses the shot! Sunset flip gets two. Suplex attempt is blocked, Rich fights out of the ab stretch attempt and hits a full nelson suplex! They’re up at eight, Rich clobbers him, suplex again is blocked, SSP tries for the ab stretch, rollup gets two. Rather good submission type of match until the cheapo DQ. Ryan and TripC get knocked together but Hazard SPEARS Rich! SSP gets in TripC’s face for interfering in his match and they start beating him up! The Midwest Mob run out to chase the heels off. Rich and the Mob salute the crowd before leaving and touch fists. SSP runs TripC out from the back though, and gets the ab stretch on him! SSP chews him out after shoving him to the mat and leaves. Scooter and Devore tout the next show on March 3rd and we’re outta here for the night.
The Verdict: It’s a regular house show, so I wasn’t expecting any matches of the year. Attendance was decent at 85, though the goal is always to crack three digits.
