They're fooling around all right...
Made a gang rush to Maroa, thinking I was gonna be walking in late, but find out that the show's start time was changed to 7:30pm. NGW has pretty much taken up all the spots that NMW vacated, as I thought they would, in retrospect proving the NMW-GAW split to be a mistake that hurt NMW a lot more than GAW, and benefited NGW more than anything, giving their talent exposure to a different audience than Peoria. Hardcore KC is the GAW Heavyweight Champ at this point, but he's not here tonight. Live from the Old Maroa Grade School. Your commentary team is Conner Riley (no longer Colin) and Larz whom I found out was a former WQLZ personality. Attendance was 60-70 or so.
The Elements of Power come out to the ring, still playing the Kill Bill theme...thus I hold up a sign calling them "4GQ Wannabes". JC has the mike, he says they are the greatest unit in pro wrestling today. As opposed to who? They are the New Breed of pro wrestling, they are Wrestling Redefined…well I see they were stealing NBWA’s gimmicks before they made their arrival in GAW. The three of them are the best wrestling they have to offer, but one of them doesn’t make the grade. “Who is the weakest link?” And that draws some laughter. I yell it’s “JC”. He says at least his link don’t bend, well at least it isn’t broken! At the last show, someone lost the match for them. Two of them had a title shot at another fed. The newest member is NOT Gavin Alexander, cause of application denied. So JC brings out the newest member of the Elements of Power. Justin MacIntyre?!? It’s his music, but out comes Jaxson Pride instead. JC says when EOP is spoken, they speak talent, and they speak Pride. I try a “you sold out” chant but some people didn’t want to go along actually telling me to shut out. Pride answers I’ve always sold out this place cause I’m sitting here. One of the few I guess. JC says they’re gonna take out the trash and proceed to beat on Gavin, JC says he’s gonna wrestle Monroe.
TSO Alex Monroe vs. Gavin Alexander – Monroe beats on him in the corner, spin kick from the top, one foot cover gets ONE. Monroe gets backdropped but lands on his feet, hurraconranna attempt is blocked, Gavin with a neckbreaker, suplex, pickup…Monroe reverses and gets two. Powerslam blocked, Monroe dropkicks the knee for two. Spinning toe hold Monroe, Gavin kicks him off, chops and chokes him. Gavin's leg suddenly gives out...that spider bite just won't go away! John Scott LOW BLOWS Gavin, springboard hurraconranna by Monroe sends Gavin outside. Pride & Michaels do the beatdown, put him in, Monroe sits on the leg. Monroe charges, Gavin catches him in a spinebuster but Scott grabs the leg to hit it. Monroe with a kick to the leg. Gavin with a backdrop, DDT, and twists that head. Monroe springboard DDT gets two. Butterfly suplex Gavin gets two. Monroe with a running moonsault on the back, Gavin with a backbreaker, powerbomb in the corner. And Gavin isn't able to stand, Monroe with a grazing punt, Russian legsweep, spinaround moonsault gets the pin.
WINNER: TSO Alex Monroe pin -> 12 mins. **
The beatdown continues after the match, Jaxson Pride gets the mike in to rant about Truk Thompson, but he’s quickly interrupted. Truk’s music plays but he’s not here and it was a trick. They put Truk out of commission, he claims John Scott was cheated out of the Central States title. Pride claims the fans turned on him long before he turned on them. The EOP is here to stay, and there’s no one who can change it. Pride is unhappy that the fans weren’t demanding a title shot for him when he came back from injury. I don’t believe that one at ALL. Gavin Alexander freaks out attacking a security guard and a referee. Sammy Da Bull & Benjamin Taylor finally come out to try to stop this. They’ve seen enough, things change a bit tonight. They claim it’s outta hand with people jumping ship, they want to give Gavin a chance to change his life, choice one is anger management classes or choice two is leaving GAW. Gavin is scoffing at this. Sammy & Ben says they are here for Gavin though, and they hired someone to help him at their expense. They bring out “Unbelievable” Andy Roberts??? You’re kidding me right? Andy says he’s going to be Gavin’s ticket to glory and if Gavin wants to throw a punch, he should throw a hug instead. Andy goes through the motivational spiel, and I’m not taking this at all seriously.
Mike Ushman vs. Vampire Kaval w/ Apriq Laveq - For some reason the ring announcing is nothing more than announcing the matchup, and in quite a very sedated fashion, what's up with that? I wish they’d give me a crack at it. And there's no ring bell either. Mike has new ring gear. Kaval pounds away and works the arm, but Ushman with an enzuigiri, Japanese arm drag. Kaval kneedrop, flying clothesline, legdrop gets two. Suplex gets one, lungblower gets two. Kaval whips Ushman right into the ref! WTF? Springboard sidekick Ushman, DDT gets two. BOOT WIPE Ushman, spinning heel kick, Kaval goes outside, Ushman with a suicide dive on Kaval & Apriq. Shining wizard Ushman, he goes up, frogsplash connects with the knees as Kaval doesn't quite roll away. Kaval gets up however and hits a double arm DDT for the pin.
WINNER: Vampire Kaval pin -> 6:05 mins. **½
Sly vs. Mephisto – Conner Riley takes over ring announcing for the rest of the show, good thing, at least he has a bit of energy, but looks like Bobby Hill. Hmmm...I was thinking give the heel heat to Sly but he's playing nice today so I'll be polite. Since there's no bell I decided to bang the fire alarm bell mounted on the wall for the heck of it. Shove by the hair Meph, whip springboard DDT Sly, rolling thunder...almost overshot. Meph kicks away, spinning neckbreaker gets two. Northern lights suplex gets two. Sly fires a shoulderblock, flying springboard forearm, dropkick, headbutt low...elbow, Sly wipes his boots on Meph's face, goes up, split legged moonsault gets the knees! Meph with a piledriver for two, rib breaker, Samoan drop gets two. Sly flying headscissors into a Russian leg sweep gets one. Reverse DDT Sly gets one, dropkick sends Meph outside, Sly with a suicide flip to the floor! Hmmm...they're a little too close to where I'm sitting. They get back in, slugfest, suplex Meph, goes up, he gets knocked down. Northern lights suplex Sly. Gut wrench suplex Meph gets two. Meph jaws with the ref, Sly kicks him, split legged moonsault gets two. Meph hits Sly with the FINAL FALL for the pin. Not much psychology at all used here, but I'm one of those workrate fans so it doesn't bother me.
WINNER: Mephisto pin -> 10:10 mins. ***¼
Benjamin Taylor announces that Jessie Clark is injured and cannot take part in the tag title defense. He proceeds to bring out the entire roster from the back. Taylor also says Jason Lyte is also hurt…uh no, in truth Jason Lyte QUIT GAW and went to NMW. He makes a tag team royal rumble for the main event. If anyone doesn’t have a partner, they better go get one. They all have 20 minutes or so. The garbage is gonna be taken out.
Luchon Venom & Jewels Vega w/ Dennis Devine vs. Truly Everything - JC Michaels & Jonathan Scott w/ Jaxson Pride – They fumble the intro of the first team. Talk about strange bedfellows, well Venom is just using the wrong persona with Vega and they seem like a complete odd couple. Venom and Scott start, Venom clotheslines him in the corner, Scott yanks him down and tags JC. JC pounds the mask, but you might as well punch the wall. Oddball whip to the corner JC, he goes in to kick away, tags Scott. Clothesline, elbow for two. Venom sideslam and tags Vega, legdrop for two. Twist splash Vega gets two, he dropkicks JC off. Vega with a sloppy headscissors, tag Venom. Rope walk forearm shot gets two. LOW BLOW Scott, they switch in and out, Pride and Devine hop on the apron to argue, Vega nails Scott, referee clears the area, JC with a side elbow for two. Venom flying clothesline for two, goes up for a top rope clothesline but...MISSES. Tags, clothesline Vega, applies a surfboard on Scott, JC breaks it up, a brawl ensues Pride between Devine and Venom, JC & John Scott with their version of the Hart Attack and get the pin. Really sloppy.
WINNERS: Truly Everything pin -> 8:15 mins. *¼
Richard Biggs vs. Scott Keyes - Lockup and shove by Biggs, Keyes kicks him, armdrag, dropkick, armwringer. Biggs hip toss, slam, gut wrench for two. Biggs clothesline in the corner, misses a second. Keyes punches away, Biggs shoves him off. Keyes with a crossbody gets two. Choke by Keyes, second rope forearm gets two. Side suplex Biggs, clothesline, spinebuster, but runs into a boot. Keyes goes up, dives but gets caught in the Styles Clash and that's it!
WINNER: Richard Biggs pin -> 6:10 mins. **½
Halftime. Petey Clark comes out and says he’s sick of the garbage in the back, and is sick of Jaxson Pride. He’s here to call him out, and wants him out NOW. He has a few things to say to him, he’s known him as a little kid, Pride came to him to help GAW. Petey came to GAW for Pride, and what happened on the 11th was a personal slap in the face. He realizes this has turned to business and indicates levels with his hand. Petey says he won’t get back up there and wants him to get in for a buttkicking.
GAW & 3CW Tag Champ Petey Clark vs. Jaxson Pride – Petey slugs away and slams him. Pride stalls, clothesline, DDT gets two. Pride chops away, snap mare, sleeper, spinebuster for two. Pride tosses him out for Monroe to attack, Pride goes for the muscle buster but it's blocked. Springboard forearm Pete. Pride with a slam, slingshot elbow, springboard moonsault gets two. Pete with a snap sunset flip for two. Pete misses a moonsault, Pride kneedrop, slam, springboard moonsault of his own MISSES. Pete attacks, tries for a pin combo, Pride comes back and hits the muscle buster but pulls him up at TWO?!? Petey comes back though, flying clothesline off the top, but had so little left Pride covers him for two then brings his cronies in for the beatdown.
WINNER: Petey Clark DQ -> 12:15 mins. ***½
The ref gets tossed as they kick away, Richard Biggs comes out with a chair to chase them off, someone utters nonsense about this not being what they talked about. Huh?
Catalyst Cory Carter vs. Joe Cain - TripC attacks, fallaway slam, shoulderblocks, clothesline, snapmare, headlock, clothesline. Joe hits an elbow and a DDT for two. Joe kicks away but gets spinebustered, elbow for two. Wheelbarrow stunner Joe, side kick for two. Joe with the clotheslines, but TripC with a shortarm. Joe hits another stunner, goes up, twisting splash MISSED. TripC with a flatliner and gets the pin.
WINNER: TripC pin -> 5:10 mins. **¼
Apriq Laveq says for those who don’t know, he wrestles for 3CW in Springfield, and he’s won the National title. So he’s their “Central National Champion”. The CS title is the only one on the line tonight however, and Devine can’t beat him.
GAW Central States Championship
(c)Apriq Laveq w/ Vampire Kaval vs. Dennis Devine w/ Jewels Vega - Well he looks healed up from that notch in his head. Dennis works the arm, Apriq takes him down and they mat wrestle, Dennis with a backslide for two. Kaval grabs him for the neck snap which the ref sees and IGNORES. Suplex Apriq gets two, slam, elbow, slugs him in the jaw, shoulderblocks to the back, and Kaval interjects himself again, Apriq with a dropkick for two, suplex, side suplex gets two. Dennis gets a sunset flip but Apriq is back on the attack and Kaval chokes him on the ropes. Apriq gets a reverse DDT for two. Dennis tries to fight back, but Kaval throws a knee and gets CAUGHT. The referee ejects Kaval from ringside! Finally. Apriq though gets the RUDE AWAKENING for two. Apriq dumps him out, then throws him into the chairs. Back in the ring, Apriq holds him down, Devine up, spinkick, clotheslines, headscissors, kick to the head gets two. Apriq charges, Devine German suplexes him into the corner, bronco buster! Apriq with a slam however, goes up, MOONSAULT gets NOTHING! Overshot the target! May have wrecked his wrist. Devine with a DDT, Kaval is back out here, the ref gets nailed, they try a beltshot but miss, Devine dumps Kaval, Devine with something like an X-Factor and another referee comes out to count the pin. But the assigned referee says it’s a DQ due to Kaval’s interference. Match was a bit long.
WINNER: Dennis Devine DQ -> 19 mins. **¾
Ben Taylor comes back out and brings out the first four teams.
GAW Tag Team Championship – Tag Team Royal Rumble
They call this the Gold Rush, but it is a fancy team for a tag team royal rumble. Four teams start, another team comes out a minute after the last team enters the ring. I couldn't keep up with the action, so we fast forward toward the end of the match. #1. NGW Tag Champs New Era - Black Dragon & Morton Von Prose, #2. Sly & Max Power – oddball tag team there, #3. Jaxson Pride & Alex Monroe – who Taylor calls garbage, #4. Extreme Dream Team - Brian Ealey & Mike Ushman. Appears it’s gonna be one minute intervals or something. The brawl starts, Max gets choked, Ushman slams Sly, Dragon gets worked over by Ealey. #5. Cain Bros. - Donovan & Joe. Don comes in through the crowd. Everyone pounds away on each other. MVP stands on Monroe’s head! #6. Mephisto & Conner Riley – random team! Ushman gets tossed out. Pride with the star spangled driver on Ushman and throws him out again! Conner dropkicks someone. Ealey is still in there, both have to be tossed it seems. #7. Richard Biggs & Pizza Guy Frank – another random team. Pride and Monroe are camping outside! Joe Cain throws them back in. A pair of heads get rammed, sleeper on Pride. #8. The Prophecy - Apriq Laveq & Vampire Kaval. Max gets thrown out. The Cains for some reason eliminate each other and fight to the back at 5 min. What’s up with that? Frank gets dumped at 5:25. Conner appears to be out. #9. Dennis Devine & Jewels Vega. MVP clotheslines Monroe in the corner, Devine shoves Miss Black down! Vega knocks Kaval to the floor, he’s out. MVP tries to knock someone else off. Pride powerbombs Sly. Meph gets clotheslined. #10. Truly Everything - JC Michaels & Johnathan Scott. Pride tosses Sly out. Vega and MVP pound Kaval. Meph tries to ditch Dragon, but he hangs on. MVP snake eyes Kaval. Dragon tries to dump Sly, Meph pulls Sly down. #11. Anger Management - Gavin Alexander & Andy Roberts. Sly and Meph fight to the back. Devine gets dumped out by EOP. Roberts goes after Dragon, Monroe camps outside, Pride almost dumped out, Biggs slams Apriq. #12. Cory Carter & Scott Keyes. Vega stands on both members of the Prophecy. TripC trades chops with Vega. Just a pileup. Andy tries to hold Gavin back from fighting, Biggs gets eliminated, Gavin throws Kaval in the corner, Dragon is on the outside. Scott chops Gavin. #13. GAW Tag Champs The Clarks - Petey Clark (solo). Kaval dumps Vega out. The EOPs camp. Keyes chop Andy. Kaval with an enzuigiri on Gavin. The buzzer sounds for #14 but there’s no one. Kaval finally gets ditched by Petey. Ben Taylor checks out this. Monroe is eliminated. Guess we’re out of entrants now. Pride gets eliminated. TripC tosses Andy Roberts out. TripC clotheslines MVP in the corner. Andy tries to stop Gavin, and he’s out. 15:22 now. Keyes kicks Apriq, Apriq gets eliminated! So it’s New Era, three of the EOP, and Petey Clark. Keyes is out. Pride on the top rope, Clark knocks him to the floor. TripC gets dumped out. Petey clotheslines Scott in the corner, as Dragon lurks outside camping. Petey dumps John Scott out. Petey is about to go…and he’s tossed by JC. The New Era swarm JC Michaels however and dump him out! I don’t usually rate royal rumbles, and I had a hard time seeing eliminations.
WINNERS and NEW CHAMPS: New Era -> 18:10 mins. N/A
MVP & Black Dragon are now double champs, GAW and NGW. First team in, last time out. The second team ever to hold both sets of belts. Jaxson Pride being a sore loser slugs the referees. And we’re done for the evening.
There were a couple of clunkers, but they didn’t drag the show down. Though if I rewatched this show on tape, I might make some rating changes. But I guess I’ll leave it alone. NGW makes an impact taking one of GAW’s titles on their first appearance.
Thumbs up.

Thumbs up.
