The Lost Rap Sheet - NGW 5/13/2K6
The Rap Sheet – from the Mad Conservative
Next Generation Wrestling’s Ace of Spades
5/13/2K6 Peoria, IL
Play your cards right now!
This is the last of the lost rap sheets I caught up on while with the utterly boring call center--barring the few shows I've had to put aside for various reasons. Now I have a bunch of videos to watch and post online which can only be addressed at home. And hopefully it promotes downstate wrestling so the major cities nearby can sit up and take notice. Around this time NGW was changing venues because the Peoria Athletic Club was closing shop. They did some shows at the Holiday Inn downtown but for some reason people didn’t wanna go there. The Riverplex then didn’t want to have wrestling shows there anymore due to insurance costs after the July event. So about a couple months later they find the Bellevue Plaza Gym with very reasonable rental, and NGW has been running shows ever since.
Live from the Peoria Riverplex. Your commentary team is Scooter and Doug Devore. Attendance was about 135 for this.

And we are here for the NGW Hall of Fame ceremony...which now we need a list of all the prior inductees, but Psycho Sam Cody was entered previously. Tank Thurman is the guest of honor. Scooter notes he started in Sept. 1994 as a columnist for Wrestling Edge out of New York. He was a traveling video photographer for Doctor X’s Wrestling Royale. He started wrestling in 1995. He became a columnist for the Independent Insider publication out of Iowa. In 1997, he started his own wrestling promotion New Mid-West Wrestling (which the current NMW doesn’t want to be thought of having any linkage to it whatsoever). Starting in 1999, he did color commentary for later incarnation of New Midwest Wrestling. In 2003, he joined up with Next Generation Wrestling. He later became a manager at NGW. 2005, started another promotion called FIST, 2006 started PWA. Scooter then inducts Thurman into the NGW Hall of Fame and hands him a certificate. Thurman has a trophy with him, he says they did in 2004 the Ultimate Wrestling Challenge. This year they did the NGW Tank Thurman Lethal Lottery tournament (which I had the honor of calling the action behind the mikes) that was won by Chris Hazard. Hazard comes out and accepts the trophy. Thurman notes he won the first tourney years ago. Now that brings out Catalyst Cory Carter, all in a huff and with a bag in hand. TripC admits to a mistake, due to a some nonsense that went down that cost Hazard his entry into Ace of Spades, he awards the spot held by Deacon Hobbs who suddenly retired from the business to back to him. TripC then scolds Thurman for walking away from NGW because he couldn’t get his way and wasn’t happy that a younger generation pushed him off the executive board. TripC says business is business, it’s gonna pick up cause he hands Tank a referee shirt and he’ll be officiating the match between TripC and Devore tonight!
Geek Council - Gilbert Lewis & Dewey Dawson vs. Apocolypse & Stumpy - Stumpy still has his arm taped up from that ultra-violent hardcore match a month ago down in Fairview Heights. He starts against Dawson, and hits an atomic drop. Tag Apoc, Dewey gets overpowered, headbutt has no effect and gets shoulderblocked. Dewey manages a hip toss but Apoc grabs the arm and tags Stumpy. Double backdrop, Stumpy hip tosses Dewey about and in comes Gilbert. Jawbreaker, spinning neckbreaker from Lewis gets two. Dewey gives Stumpy a pitstop, Lewis sets up the battering ram but Apoc tags in and trips it up. Apoc spinebusters Lewis, DVDs Dewey, Stumpy misses the legdrop however and Dewey slaps on a chinlock...but gets powerslammed. Lewis and Apoc in, Apoc clobbers the geeks, double suplex, backbreaker, reverse DDT, slam, Apoc with a senton off the ropes for the pin. Pretty much a lengthy squash.
WINNERS: Apocolypse & Stumpy pin -> 8:35 mins. *½
Catalyst Cory Carter vs. Doug Devore – Your guest referee is Tank Thurman, and this match is for who becomes the general manager of NGW. If I can remember the backstory correctly, these two have been in a dispute for quite a while, whereas for a time Devore was suspended from NGW and TripC was bringing in guest commentators for the weekly shows, including myself. NGW Heavyweight Champ Big Pappa vs. Kyle Rich - It's the battle between Perfect Ten! Kyle slugs away but gets clobbered. Pappa rams him on the apron, but clotheslines the post...and Rich wraps that arm around it! CHAIRSHOT ON THE ARM! Kyle goes to work on it, but Pappa flees...they fight on the floor and Kyle stomps a chair on the arm. Uh oh, that elbow is looking black. Kyle keeps attacking the arm, save for a powerslam by Pappa for two. Kyle goes back to the arm, splash, pNut decides to hop on the apron, Kyle bumps the ref, Pappa clotheslines the ref...oops. Kyle hits a knee to the head, but a ref has to run out to count two. Crossarm breaker by Rich, Pappa stands up to push his shoulders to the mat, the refs count a fall on Rich as Pappa taps out! And we gotta problem as the match stops at 22:10 mins. Robbie McCann argues with Matt Hanson as to who the winner is, TripC comes out to make a ruling, gets rid of one of the refs and orders a restart. Kyle runs into Pappa, dropkicking the knee. pNut hops on the apron as Pappa tries for a piledriver, Robbie McCann ejects pNut. Kyle fetches the title belt and blasts Pappa with it, but Pappa remains upright and catches Rich in the Black Hole Slam for the pin! Pappa survives!

The Verdict: I would say the show was pretty average overall with the opener the match of the night.
