Back in the saddle, sorta...

Well being a person with a camcorder and being a good shooter, was asked to film the show...so here I am. Alas that means it's gonna take a lot longer for me to do these recaps as I'll be doing them from video instead of notes.

The folks in the first match are introduced but Scotty Cash apparently is back?!? Cash takes the mike from Jimmy but Jimmy fakes him out and Cash backs off. Hahaha. He says he is NOT wrestling tonight but he’s found someone that will compete and win the double jeopardy match…El Diablo Silverado! But he’s a NO SHOW.

Eric Logan vs. Axis vs. El Diablo Silverado - This is supposedly for the last spot in the double jeopardy match, which I still don't know what it is. Some kind of glorified triple threat or four-way or something? Well no EDS, aka SSP so its E-Lo versus Axis. Axis gets a hip toss off the bat, armdrag, side suplex…but looks away and gets the trio done to him. Axis leaves, but E-Lo dives on him. Whip clothesline in the corner, side slam gets E-Lo two. E-Lo standing dropkick won’t put Axis away. Ram in the corner, Axis dodges him and gets the lungblower for two. Axis with a suplex for two. Axis clothesline, ram corner, BIG BOOTWIPE gets two. E-Lo tries a series of pin combos, but Axis with a BOOT to the head. Axis grabs E-Lo in what looks to be a rock bottom but turns it into the Rings of Saturn...but lets go? E-Lo gets an elbow to the head, spinebuster for two. E-Lo tries for the Logans Run but the second is blocked, E-Lo gets the Northern Lights, then the German. And here comes EDS! UNPRETTIER and its over! Ugh.

WINNER: El Diablo Silverado pin -> 7:20 mins. **¼

Lucious P. Cotrain comes out right away and calls Scotty Cash back to the ring. He scoffs at the return of EDS and puts Cash in a six-man tag against Benz where each side picks their partners. If Benz wins he gets a singles match with Cash. So Cash is forced out of retirement? Maybe.

Jimmy intros Dave Parker but Guy Smith comes out instead. Guy says he declined the match against Parker, and says ever since he lost to Stan Sallinger everyone is challenging him to a match thinking he’s soft. He says he’s not soft and wants John to come to the ring. Whoops, he means Stan Sallinger. Geez, slip of the tongue there. Guy says he brought him up in the business and they were 4GQ and everything. Ummm…where does his reign as president fit in? Guy wants another match against Stan and feels its owed to him. Stan says he doesn’t need to hide behind a stage name, he’s not a lackey or boob to anyone and he doesn’t owe him anything. Guy wants to prove Stan’s win was a fluke and wants him against in July. Stan says he’s not gonna cycle himself and doesn’t need to prove anything. Stan says Guy’s on a downswing and when he starts to matter again he might fight him. Guy slaps him but Stan says he’s just sad.

Justin MacIntyre vs. Brett Gakiya – J-Mac sure ain’t popular with this crowd. We got a teaser of this matchup back at the start of the 2006 Royal Rumble with the rope malfunctions and all. J-Mac is running around glaring at people once Brett hits the ring. J-Mac does pushups and sit-ups to warm up. Brett slips out of a hammerlock for an armbar, rolls thru into a pin combo and J-Mac is outside going ha ha ha. Brett grabs a leg and goes to a headlock, side suplex is blocked, but J-Mac runs him over. Brett hits a dropsault and J-Mac bails. Bumblebee chant starts but J-Mac gets the amrbar. Brett throws him off and dropkicks him in the leg. J-Mac bails but Brett charges and it’s a SUICIDE DIVE that takes out a fan! YIKES!!! J-Mac is put in, Brett with a slingshot kneedrop, senton off the second rope, rolling double knees get two. J-Mac with a rake, kicks away and wipes his boot. Running butt smash like Umaga only gets two. J-Mac goes to a headlock. Brett gets out, but gets caught in a side chinbreaker and suplex. J-Mac slams the leg to the mat, and down come the straps! Ugh! It’s figure four time but Brett gets the small package for two! Brett runs into an elbow, J-Mac whip to the ropes but Brett with a flying tackle off the second rope. Nick Brubaker is out here, so is CJ. They argue, J-Mac hits a stunner, cover, Brubaker is on the apron distracting the ref, CJ with a twisting senton on J-Mac then goes after Brubaker. Brett kicks, knee to the head, dropkick to the face and gets the pin. Not bad, crazy dive into the fan is a highlight reel moment. Tag match gets set up from this next month.

WINNER: Brett Gakiya pin -> 10:45 mins. **¾

The champs take the cowards way out.

Shane Matthews is out here and says he wasn't here last month and denies he was scared or he can't beat Michael Shard. He actually refused to wrestle cause he is holding out for more money. The admins want Shane to fight Shard, but Shane says he's beaten him every time and that he's outta shape and a midget. He's the better man and will always be so come out and shake my hand then go home. Shard runs out very angry.

Michael Shard vs. Shane Matthews - Shard tackles him and throws him to the mat...and Shane bails. Shard follows and hurls him into the trash cans! Shane fights back and rams him into the wall, then runs off, Shard chases him to the back and hurls him out! Into the trash can! INTO THE TABLE! Shard looks in the camera and says that's what I'm doing to ya son! BOOM! Chase into the ring, toss neckbreaker gets two! Shard chops him! Whip to the corner but runs into a boot, Shard proceeds to clothesline him out in retaliation! Shard jumps out after him again, Shane takes something from the crowd and throws it at Shard's head! Shard charges but Shane drops him into the bottom rope and chokes him on the floor! Shane chokes him on the bottom rope and won't let go! Shane puts Shard between the ropes and pounds him on the chest! Shane pounds him in the corner, snap mare, rear headlock. Shard with a backdrop on Shane, rams him in the corners, but Shane headbutts Shard in the face, mounts the back and yells "Saturday Night Live" and locks in that goofy sleeper hold. Shard wiggles free and Shane has to reapply the hold. Shard spins around and knees him in the groin. Shane goes to the ab stretch and grabs the rope. Ref breaks it, Shard KICK WHAM POWERBOMB for two. Shane with a takedown and locks in that goofy sleeper again. Shard won't give in, stands up with it and rams him into the corner. Shard whip forearm shot, flying neckbreaker, Shard goes to the second rope, missile dropkick gets two! Shane begs off as Shard yells he's nothing and slugs him. Shard goes for the Cutting Edge but Shane kicks him off and LOW BLOWS the ref for the wussout DQ. Shane whines that he can't beat him as he stolls away, as Shard is yelling at him to finish this. Wild brawl that maybe will wake up the Marvel as he hasn't been in a bigtime battle for a long time. That goofy sleeper has to go though.

WINNER: Michael Shard DQ -> 13:20 mins. ***¼

Central Illinois Championship
(c)CJ Esparza w/ Brett Gakiya vs. Jackpot JD Rodgers - Standard working the arms to start, CJ with a takedown as JD tries a kip up and fails miserably. JD wants to show he can do it as the crowd mocks him. He finally does it after so long and CJ throws him around until he bails. CJ with a flying tackle to the floor, puts him in and does a springboard stomp, splash gets two. CJ rams him in the corner, charges but eats an elbow, BACKBREAKER by JD gets two. JD slams him three in a row, one hand cover gets ONE. JD with a chinlock, CJ tries to get out but gets yanked down. WINNER and STILL CHAMP: CJ Esparza pin -> 7:20 mins. ***

Steven Bishop and Tricky Dick stroll out to the ring and jump Zero Gravity, Bishop gives CJ the 7th Day! Moore gives Brett a spinning neckbreaker! The Hybrids then stroll to the ring minus the girls as Bishop gets the mike. Bishop says Zero G broke up as a tag team because they suck. Bishop's pledge to break up his team if he lost is null and void cause Tricky wasn't there last month. Ummm...Bishop's team never won a match and Zero G were yearlong tag champs, yeah whatever. Bishop wants a reputable tag team to actually have a match with as he thinks the Hybrids are there to help them. Jason Lyte says they can't pass up the opportunity to beat up the two biggest losers in NMW. They turn on Bishop and Moore and run them outta the ring! Lyte says he's tired of being lapdogs for Spencer Powers jumping Zero G. The Hybrids acknowledge Zero G beat them then says it's about time they represent excellence.

The Hybrids - Jason Lyte & Donovan Cain vs. Steven Bishop & Tricky Dick Moore - Bishop jumps him from behind pounding him down, but Lyte armdrags him around and hits a dropkick. Lyte takes out Moore, Cain clothesline and the heels bail. The Hybrids with double suicide dives to the floor! Bishop put in and Lyte kicks him around. Tag Moore, he pounds away, whip to the corner, charges but crashes into nothing. Cain tries to crawl over but Moore has the leg, Bishop charges but goes sailing over the top. Bishop yanks Lyte off as Cain gets to his corner, and Moore drops an elbow. Cain tries to fight his way out when dragged to the enemy corner but Bishop nails him with a facebreaker for two. Bishop whip to the corner but Cain avoids, Cain with a shoulder to the gut, hops Bishop and tags Lyte! Lyte forearm, heel kick, nails Moore, backdrop. Double whip Lyte nails the heels, Bishop gets a wastelock, Lyte kicks Moore away, Cain clotheslines Bishop. Double team clothesline from the top on Moore, HYBRID THEORY on BISHOP! Wow he muscled him up!

WINNERS: The Hybrids pin -> 10 mins. ***½

Cash wants everyone to stand up and clap as he proceeds to do the ring introductions himself. Benz comes out and says he could take on all three of them but brings out his partners (neither of them are Guy Smith…shock), and says Cash is in trouble. Well Scotty Cash back in the ring in over two years. Wonder how this will go. I’m still not used to calling Stan Sallinger by his new name so I’m gonna stick with the old one for now.

Scotty Cash, Billy Morgan & Jon Magnus w/ Stephani King vs. Toga Steve, Mississippi Madman & NMW Heavyweight Champ Benz – Okay it’s gonna be Benz and Morgan first. And Benz pushes him to the corner and here comes Stan. Benz pushes him back and Cash hops on the floor. Cash comes in slowly as fans wants him to fight. Cash wants Toga in, charges Benz but gets nailed by all three guys and runs back to tag Morgan. Morgan also gets clobbered by all three guys. Stan comes in and kicks Benz but runs into a boot then clobbered by all three men and they bail to the floor. Cash acts wussy and Stan is back in and gets armbarred. Madman in and works the arm. Toga in and axes the thing. Benz back in and gets a headlock, shoveoff, clothesline by Stan. Ram in the enemy corner and Benz gets a beatdown. Morgan in, snap mare and kick to the face gets two. Morgan chokes him on the rope and Cash comes with a running sitdown for two. Stan comes in, legdrop gets two. Morgan in, locks in a sleeper but gets shoved away, Benz locks it in himself and they spill to the floor. Back into the ring, Morgan hits a jawbreaker, tags to Toga and Stan and Toga chops him. Tag MADMAN, he slugs away in the corner, Toga in, he pounds away, ten punch, whip to the corner, Toga charges but missed. Stan drops Toga across the top rope and in comes Morgan. He works him over, elbow to the back of the head gets two. Stan in and kicks away, slam, legdrop gets two. Morgan in, kick to the arm and to a headlock. Toga whip to the corner but eats a boot, Cash in for a cover then back out. Sheesh, Cash is trying to avoid taking a bump. Stan clobbers Toga down, Cash runs in to nail Benz as Morgan and Stan pound him for two. Morgan to the camel clutch. Toga heads the wrong way as Stan kicks him. Billy with a chop, Toga fights back, hits a clothesline. Stan in, Madman in and knocks down Stan and Morgan. Side slam on Stan, side slams Morgan onto Stan. Madman knocks Stan down into a tag to Cash. Cash don’t want in. Tag Benz and Cash keeps avoiding. Cash goes low and pounds away but Benz gets a choke, Morgan with a superkick and Guy Smith is here! Madman in and double chokeslams Morgan! Stan jumps in and gets a cover but the ref is nowhere. Cash is running away from Toga and Madman as Stan pounds Benz. Guy trips up Stan as Benz with the POUNCE! Cash jumps in the ring and finds himself surrounded…then drops to the mat and taps. Huh?

WINNERS: Mississippi Madman, Benz & Toga Steve submission -> 8:20 mins. **

Okay, Cash quit but he has to run around and get back in the ring against Benz. Fine for a six-man but didn’t light the world on fire. Scotty towels off then SLOWLY gets back into the ring as if we’re gonna have the match but El Diablo runs in, hits a LOW BLOW then the Unprettier! Cash covers but the ref refuses to count, El Diablo shoves him, the ref shoves back, they bail and then we have a bell. They call Benz the winner but the bell never rang to start so we DID NOT get a match here. Geez, the battle of the Hot Boyz will have to wait even longer. Cash sure did everything possible to avoid taking damage, just wonder if he’s physically still not able to go.

They didn’t have anyone in mind for Benz to defend the title against so they did a six-man tag. I just don’t want them getting back into the habit of having the titles idle months at a time when there’s a bunch of people around that never had even ONE heavyweight title shot under the guise of “investing in the champs”. The next show three guys are competing against Benz for the belt in a Double Jeopardy match which are Toga Steve, Billy Morgan and El Diablo. So why has Spencer Powers redonned the mask? Somehow this EDS seems a bit heavier than SSP, which has me suspecting someone else is pretending to be him.

The Verdict: This is one of the shortest Revolution shows ever, as there were only seven matches in all in just over two hours. I kinda expected more than there was but the crowd was under 100 people and that’s not good. Promotion is gonna have to be stepped up badly…and really the wrestlers on the roster should AT LEAST post a Myspace bulletin saying they’re wrestling at NMW on such-n-such date but they’re NOT doing that hardly.

Thumbs up.
