The Rap Sheet - from the Mad Conservative

Why are such good shows not seen by very many people?

The views by the Mad Conservative Crimefighter are expressed by solely by himself and not by any wrestling organization or its representatives.

So what does FIST stand for?  Apparently it stands for Futurestars In Superstar Training, but since that acronym seems messed up I suggest Future International Superstars of Tomorrow.  Tank Thurman who's been associated with NGW started up this promotion.  I got an invite and posted net ads around, which earned me a couple of comps.  Unfortunately ads on the net only do so much as only 25 people attended in a 75 seat house.  Oh dear.  There was no hard flyering of Peoria, which probably would had helped sell out this small facility that is the Peoria Athletic Club, home of NGW.

The drive into Peoria can be considered horrible, as I-74 through Peoria is all tore up and being rebuilt, but now the bridge across the river is closed.  Fortunately the last exit before the interstate takes me to another bridge across the river right to the area I need to go.  Right when I walk in I get the ugly greeting from Justin MacIntyre, claiming he don't know me, I don't know him either.  Shark Boy was at his merchandise table and cause the show started a half hour late and there weren't many in attendance we chatted for a long while.

Your ring announcer is MC Trip C.  Live from the Peoria Athletic Club.

Eddie Kingston 5'11" 228lbs. Yonkers, NY vs. Josh Abercombie 5'9" 195lbs. Kalamazoo, MI - I start clapping to get the crowd pumped for the match and Eddie takes offense.  He jumps out of the ring and comes to sit next to Cherry.  He gets back in and Josh gets an armbar but Eddie complains about tights pulled.  Josh with the headlock, Eddie jaws A LOT.  They wrestle on the mat, Josh gets outta the headscissors and hits a drop kick.  After more stalling, Josh with a rolling trip, Eddie armwringer, and we have a sequence of rollups.  Five minutes passed outta fifteen.  Drop kick Josh, Eddie goes outside, Josh hits a twisting suicide dive to the floor!  Toss in, kneedrop Josh gets two.  Whip belly to belly slam Ed gets ONE.  Ed chokes away, forearms him down for two.  Rear chinlock with knee press, Josh fights out but Eddie hair yanks for two.  Eddie jaws away some more and Josh finally slugs him in the mouth.  Eddie chokes him, hits an elbow on the apron, and uses a ONE FOOT cover for two.  Ed with a knee, splash in the corner.  A second one meets an Abercombie BOOT, springboard drop kick.  Ten minutes passed, five left.  Josh hits a flying forearm, but misses an enzuigiri.  Ed tries something but gets kicked in the face for two.  Another belly to belly slam by Ed gets two.  And Ed locks in what looks to be a combined inverted indian deathlock inverted crab hold that I need a name for.  Josh makes the rope, Eddie goes up, they fight on top, Josh does something to get him down for two.  Eddie with a backbreaker variant, then scissor locks the waist as time expires.  If Eddie didn't jaw so much he might have won, but...

NO WINNER:  Time Limit Draw -> 15 mins. **

Tyler "Gixx" Black ???lbs. Davenport, IA vs. AAW Heavyweight Champ Tony Scarpone 265lbs. Chicago, IL - I've been wanting to see these guys from SCW that got into IWA-MS for a while now, it's just too far to go to the Quad Cities for JUST a wrestling show.  Scarpone pounds him down, whip to the corner, but misses the charge.  Black slugs away in the corner, whip reverse Scarpone hits a knee and a hard kick.  Gixx fires back, but gets caught in a backbreaker stretch.  Scarpone hangs Black in the corner for the tree of woe and gets kicked down for two.  Shoulderblocks Scarpone, Gixx falls outside the ring.  Scarpone puts him in, Black gets a rollup off a whip for two.  Black chops and kicks away, hits a BIG BOOT to the face and wins it outta nowhere!

WINNER:  Tyler Black pin -> 4:25 mins. *½

Angleo Impell & Ryan Cruise vs. Sinnister & Russ "RC Stevens" Staley - We're in Peoria, so he's calling himself Stevens today.  SSP, Cherry and JMac make fun of this Mr. Ryan Cruise by referring to him as Miss Rian Cruz of NMW.  Sinnister shoves him around, Angelo with a headlock, shoveoff shoulderblock, crossbody Impell gets two.  Tag Ryan who hits a fist to the arm.  Tag Angelo, axe to the back, but Sinnister with a rake and bite.  Angelo attacks the arm, whip kick, dropkick Angelo gets one.  Russ kicks Angelo in the back, clothesline Sinnister.  Tag Russ, choke, whip axe to the chest gets two.  Russ locks in a half crab, tag Sinnister, slam gets two.  Fight in the corner, Sinnister with the choke, prevents any escape and hits a splash in the corner.  Russ tagged, elbow gets two and he goes to the sharpshooter.  Angelo starts pounds the mat and we all shout he tapped!  The ref claims it's NOT a tapout.  Wrestlers who pounds the mat to get the crowd chanting for them is a risky thing to do as it can be easily misinterpreted as quitting.  Sinnister is tagged, they work Angelo over with chokes.  They slug it out, but Sinnister hits a HARD clothesline for two.  Sinnister hits a splash, but misses a second one and everyone tags.  Cruise in, hits clotheslines, ab stretch slam, drop kick on Sinnister, tags Angelo back in (way too soon!)  Double whip, double back body drop for two.  Sunset flip dropkick combo gets the pin.

WINNERS:  Angelo Impell & Ryan Cruise pin -> 10 mins. **¾

Well Sinnister & Russ throw a major fit over losing and beat the crap outta Angelo, hitting a senton splash off the second rope.

IWA Heavyweight/NWA Indiana/ROH Tag Champion Jimmy Jacobs 5'7" 169lbs. Grand Rapids, MI vs. Ryan Phoenix ???lbs. E. St. Louis, IL - Jacobs has this funky Transformers the movie theme switching over to the Darth Vader theme.  They trade slaps to start, headlock, shoulderblocks, hip toss, drop kick by Jacobs.  Ryan with a kick, whip but Jimmy hits the crossbody for two.  Jacobs hits an armdrag, but Phoenix yanks Jacobs headfirst INTO THE WALL!  Concussion city!  By the way, the room isn't very wide, just enough for the ring and to walk around it.  Toss back in, Phoenix pounds him on the head and chokes away before hitting a suplex for ONE.  Slugfest until Ryan hits the clothesline in the corner, and puts on a rear chinlock.  Jacobs with a low kick, Ryan with a chop.  Jimmy "hulks" up, hits the clotheslines, and chops him on the head.  Jacobs goes to his corner, and pulls out a bonzai headband!  BONZAI KICK from Jimmy gets two!  To the middle rope, Jacobs flying headbutt MISSED!  Ryan pounds away, enzuigiri Ryan, death valley driver into the knee of Phoenix!  Ouch!  Phoenix goes up, 450 splash...MISSED!  Jacobs rolls him up for three!

WINNER:  Jimmy Jacobs pin -> 6:45 mins. ***

Mavek "The Product" Brave ???lbs. Davenport, IA vs. Claudio Castagnoli 6'5" 222lbs. Switzerland - CC is some guy in a color clashing suit, purple shirt with yellow tie.  Mavek Brave is known in SCW as Nick "The Product" Stonewall, where he wrestles outside the fed under this new name because some dimwit thinks we're so stupid that we'll confuse Stonewall with Steve Stone, of which they don't look ANYTHING alike.  Brave tells us we're supposed to jeer CC when he comes out, and the kids sure don't like him.  CC with a sneak attack, snap mare, elbow gets two.  Kick by Brace, but CC gets an uppercut and chokes away with the tie.  You know, the first thing I'd do is grab the tie and DRAG HIM around the ring with it.  It's THAT SIMPLE.  Clothesline CC gets two.  Tie choke, slam gets two.  Brave standing switches and gets an armdrag, japanese style, back body drop gets two.  Brave goes up, CC nails him and throws an uppercut.  Superplex attempt is blocked, headbutt by Brave, frog splash by Brave gets two!  CC rallies though and hits a crossarm powerbomb for the win!

WINNER:  Claudio Castagnoli pin -> 4:30 mins. *¾

Tank Thurman comes out to rant like an angry military man.  Someone says who gave him a mike?  He claims he's gonna raise three guys to icon status--Chris Hero, Danny Daniels and Arik Cannon.  His little group is referred to as "WAR" and they want respect.  Tank for some reason thinks high flying and hardcore style wrestling has corrupted the sport.  Well I have a hard time swallowing the claim that the high flying style has done damage to the sport.  How has that damaged the sport?  You could make a case about the hardcore style doing damage to the sport as I'm not quite thrilled with people doing ridicious stunts that disfigures them and other things.  High flying...absolutely not.

Nigel McGuiness 6'1" 220lbs. London, England vs. Kyle Rich ???lbs. Peoria, IL - Rich is half the NGW tag champs and is a big underdog to the bigger Nigel.  Apparently he doesn't want us cheering for him at all today.  Full nelson by Nigel, Kyle with a hammerlock, headlock, reverses and Rich takes a bad fall for two.  Wristlock Nigel, Kyle hammerlock, to the corner and it's a clean break.  Did I mention Rich is acting like the villian?  Armbar Nigel, Kyle does a rolling slug punch but gets three European uppercuts in response.  Strangle headlock by Nigel, clothesline gets two.  Dropkick to the leg by Rich, drops the knees against his thigh.  Spinning toe hold Kyle, and does a funky "modified surfboard" with a leglock (no I don't know what he used.)  Nigel gets out of it, so he kicks away in the corner.  Forearm shot by Nigel, more uppercuts, whip back body drop by Nigel.  Poke by Kyle, he goes up, but Nigel slams him off.  Axe kick by Rich though gets two.  Rich tries the dropkicks, the last one sends Nigel bouncing off the ropes for the CLOTHESLINE FROM HECK that nearly kills the kid for three!  Rich suffered an injury to his left arm as a result of that very stiff shot.

WINNER:  Nigel McGuiness pin -> 7:25 mins. **

We go to intermission.  Jimmy Jacobs and Shark Boy come out to interact with the fans and sell their merchandise.

Eddie Kingston 5'11" 228lbs. Yonkers, NY vs. Shark Boy 5'10" 180lbs. Dayton, OH - Oh boy the jaw jacker is out here again and still won't shut up saying he beat up Josh Abercombie and won earlier.  He's called a NOT winner.  And he's about to meet "Jaws".  Ed shoves the Shark around and hits a shoulderblock.  Shark gets the hip toss and armbar but gets pounded.  Ed hits the elbow but misses the legdrop and Shark bites him in the rear through the mask.  Eddie bails, Shark Boy tries a suicide dive but is caught, rib breaker, slam on the floor!  Eddie with a rake, and they're fighting in the chairs!  Eddie with a choke and knee, toss in gets two.  Eddie chokes away some more using the ropes, the ref kicks him off, rollup gets two.  Eddie with an uppercut, MORE CHOKING.  Shark gets a drop kick, Eddie with another rake.  Shark hits a dropkick to the knee, KO punch Shark, neckbreaker gets two.  Shark wheelbarrow, into a side torquing armbar.  Shark ten punch count in the corner, ending with a bite.  Eddie reverse a whip and hits a splash, but then charges into a BOOT.  DEAD SEA DROP and it's over!  Eddie jaws too much and wrestles too little.

WINNER:  Shark Boy pin -> 10:45 mins. ***

Handicap Match

Arik Cannon 5'7" 207lbs. Chicago, IL & NWA Heartland Champ Danny Daniels ???lbs. Chicago, IL w/ Tank Thurman vs. Ryan Cruise - Angelo Impell apparently is injured and Cruise couldn't find anyone in the locker room willing to substitute for him so he's gonna go it alone.  Gee, no one wanted to wrestle Cannon & Daniels?  I don't think he quite asked EVERYONE.  And this looks to be a massacre!  But SSP tells me [whats her name's] got it under control.  Oh boy Tank is staying out here making it a three on one.  Arik starts, Ryan hits some armdrags, Daniels in and gets hip tossed.  Tag Daniels, they go to the strength test but Daniels wrings the arm, firemans takeover by Ryan.  They roll to the corner, Daniels slaps him with an elbow.  Ryan with the flying headscissors and drop kick, Arik in, he gets the same.  Tag Arik, BIG SLAP.  Ryan gets a headlock, shoveoff and Daniels with a kick on the ropes.  Arik with the clothesline, chop and ramming into Danny's feet.  Daniels tagged, hits a running shoulderblock, elbow gets two.  Danny dumps him out, and Thurman decides to kick away.  Three guys to beat one, yeah.  Toss back in, Danny hits the knees for two.  Headbutt Daniels, hard whip to the corner!  Ouch.  Arik comes in for two.  And MC Trip C gets cranky and starts to interject himself.  Arik with a KO punch, and does a vertical suplex...and holds him up there as we count the seconds...SEVENTEEN!  BAM!!!  That gets two and MC Trip C wants to tag in.  Arik hits a clothesline and they do an illegal switch, Danny with a dropkick in the corner, snap mare, headbutt gets two.  Danny with a side suplex, Cruise gets close enough to tag but MC Trip C drops down and WALKS AWAY.  Okay, why'd he even bother?  Ryan hits a stunner outta nowhere, hits a double neckbreaker on his enemies.  Double kick on WAR, double clothesline, double DDT gets two.  Cruise clotheslines Daniels out, slam on Arik, he goes up, Danny shoves him off the top and crotches him on the rope.  Cannon with the Glimmering Warlock and wins it!  Bah.  Handicap matches usually suck but this one wasn't bad.  MC Trip C claims he's a company man so that's why he couldn't help him.  Yeah sure.

WINNERS:  Danny Daniels & Arik Cannon pin -> 13:25 mins. ***¼

The Black & The Brave - Marek Brave & Tyler Black vs. Tony Scarpone & Claudio Castagnoli - They met in singles bouts beforehand, now it's tag action with all four.  Sign:  "I hate suits" of which the others change to "I hate sluts".  CC and Gixx start, standing switches, tag Brave.  Armwringer Brave, but CC tags Tony in.  Armdrag by Gixx, tag Product.  Armwringer by Brave, Scarpone with a poke, tag CC.  Armwringer by Brave on him, Tony kicks Brave, Scarpone in and chokes with the rope, CC joins in.  Slam, legdrop gets two.  Backbreaker stretch by Scarpone.  Slap by Brave, tag CC, shot to the side, uppercut gets two.  Tag Tony, spinning backbreaker gets two.  Illegal switch and CC chokes away with the tie.  Tag Tony, kick to the back and sits on him.  CC in, double whip double elbow gets two.  Tony hits the knees, Brave tries to slug it out, gets caught in a bearhug.  Brave headbutts his way out and hits an enzuigiri.  Double tags, Black hits the elbows, double whip, double hip toss, double legdrops.  Tony with a shot to the face, CC gets a rollup for two.  CC is outside, Gixx with a suicide dive on Tony, Brave gets a victory roll on CC for three!

WINNERS:  The Black & The Brave pin -> 9:30 mins. ***¾

Chris Hero 6'4" 240lbs. Metropolis vs. Josh Abercombie 5'9" 195lbs. Kalamazoo, MI - Hero has the mike and says he's the best thing to happen to wrestling, he claims to be from the future and knows he already won this match.  Sign:  Chris ain't my hero.  Lockup, anklelock Hero.  Wristlock Josh, Hero with the jetski, armdrag Josh.  Wristlock takedown Josh, armwringer Hero gets one.  Josh rear headlock, Hero with a hammerlock.  Josh with a camel clutch and turns it into a pin combo for two.  Hero works the wrist, rolls with it and works the whole arm.  Hero with repeated hop ups, Josh gets the wristlock, slam by Hero.  Hero with rolling pin combos get two.  Hard shot by Hero, headlock, he throws some palm shots, headlock takedown gets two.  They trade chops, Hero with a rake, slaps on a vicelock.  Forearms by Hero, flying headscissors by Josh.  Forearms, dropkick gets Josh two.  Knee from Hero, clothesline corner gets two.  Hero rams Abercombie in the corner, running elbow to the corner, but Josh hits a springboard enzuigiri for two.  Hero hits what is called the Hero's Welcome for the win.

WINNER:  Chris Hero pin -> 13:15 mins. ***½

FIST Speciality Championship - 5 Count

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Shark Boy - Instead of a belt, they have trophies which is a welcome change.  Pinfalls take a five count instead of three.  The others in my row apparently know nothing about the HUSS.  They trade headlocks and mat wrestle.  Headlock Jimmy, elbow hip toss Shark.  They test their strength, Shark muscles him down for two, monkey flip Shark, armdrag, trip, rear chinlock, he ties up the legs.  They wrestle on the mat before Jimmy ties the legs and puts a chinlock on.  Shark with a BITE.  Jimmy shoots him off, back body drop and Shark Boy goes FLYING OVER THE TOP.  Uh oh, Shark appears to have wrecked his knee.  Jacobs encourages him to just pack it in but he wants to continue so Jimmy attacks the knee.  Ankle twist Jimmy, Shark tries kicking away and lands a chop, trip by Jimmy, drop kick to the knee, he twists it around the rope.  Shoulderblock Shark, sunset flip gets two.  Jacobs with a clip and slaps on the figure four.  Tank Thurman comes out for whatever reason and helps Jacobs pull.  Shark gets the rope, Tank takes a cheap shot, Jacobs pulls the leg, shot into the turnbuckle.  Slugfest in the ring, Jacobs pulls out the headband, Bonzai kick MISSES!  Shark with a neckbreaker, back body drop, clothesline, ram to the corner, ten punch count followed by a BITE.  Shark kneedrop to the head gets two.  Jimmy eats a boot, DEAD SEA DROP gets three...and Shark Boy forgot it's a five count match.  Oh boy, I thought that might happen.  Shark covers again, and gets FOUR.  Shark goes up, Tank whips Shark in the rear with a tray knocking him off, Jacobs covers for five!  Oh bah, what was Tank's stake in this match?  Jacobs wins his FOURTH title to go with his NWA Indiana, ROH Tag, and IWA-MS World titles.  Jimmy has the mike and says he's turned to the dark side.  He doesn't care.  Shark Boy takes the mike and says he's his father, he'll kick his butt the next time he sees him.

WINNER:  Jimmy Jacobs pin -> 16 mins. ***½

FIST Tag Team Championship

The Black & The Brave vs. Arik Cannon & Danny Daniels - Daniels and Brave start, Danny decides he wants none of Brave and goes to the floor but Black slugs him.  Arik & Black in, Black gets a nerve hold, tag Brave, Arik with a poke, tag Daniels, armdrag Brave, tag Black, armwringer, tag Brave, headbutts.  The heels switch around, rollup Brave gets two.  Arik yanks the rope and Brave hits the floor.  Tag Arik, double elbow gets two.  Arik snap suplex, tag Danny, elbow to the back.  Camel clutch by Daniels, Brave escapes and chops away, but gets hit with a full nelson into a backbreaker for two!  Yeek.  Danny with the rear chinlock, and presses his head against the neck.  Clothesline Danny gets two, whip to the corner, tag Arik, headbutt, whip side elbow.  Arik works over the arms, they make an illegal switch, Danny with a version of a bow and arrow, then goes to half crab and really torques the leg before making it a full Boston crab.  Brave makes the rope, so Daniels chops and pounds in the corner.  Whip to the other side, Daniels eats boot.  Brave goes up, Daniels fights him on the ropes but gets knocked down, dropkick from the second by Brave!  Enzuigiri Brave, and Black tags in.  Gixx nails everyone, jawbreaker on Danny, BIG BOOT gets ONE.  Superkick on Arik, Brave assists with a rocket launcher senton for two.  Danny trips him up, GLIMMERING WARLOCK by Arik gets two!  Brave gets shoved into Daniels, rollup gets two, but Daniels hits a PILEDRIVER for the win!  Forgot to start the timer but we'll say it went...

WINNER:  Danny Daniels & Arik Cannon pin -> 15 mins. ****

FIST Heavyweight Championship - 2/3 Falls
Nigel McGuiness vs. Chris Hero w/ Tank Thurman - Whew, it's 10pm and we're up to match #13 and it's 2 outta 3.  The others decided to head home.  First fall:  They fight over a wristlock, Hero twists it around his knee.  Nigel works the leg, legtrip anklelock, Hero with an armwringer.  Nigel with a hammerlock, Hero almost does a back body drop as Nigel is thrown funny.  Hero stands on Nigel's foot, makes a four with the other, figure four style but with a double underhook!  Nigel stretches his legs out to escape and we have a clean break.  Hammerlock Nigel, armbar Hero, Nigel works him over and Hero bails out.  Back in, leg scissors of the head by Hero, Nigel escapes at two.  Whip, Hero crawls under Nigel's legs, rollup gets three!  Advantage Hero at 12:35 mins.  Second fall:  Sunset flip gets Hero two.  Nigel fights his way out, Nigel with an ankle lock, crossed leg chinlock by Nigel.  Figure four Nigel but Hero gets a rope.  Slanted figure four by Nigel, Hero gets out of it, leg yank down gets two.  Hero with an kneeling figure four (or maybe an Indian death lock variant), he does a rollover for an inverted figure four!  Nigel however blocks a sunset flip attempt for a pin!  Tie at 19:40 mins.  Third fall:  Hero has the legs locked, ankle lock by Hero, snap mare into the ropes, Hero rams the leg on the apron.  Inverted Indian death lock by Hero, Nigel reverses into a crossface, rolls it for two.  Elbow to the foot by Hero, rake, Tank Thurman gets a cheap shot in, Hero gets two.  Half crab Hero with extra torque, Nigel's out, backslide gets two, rollup gets two.  Hero works the leg, enzuigiri Nigel, he charges but Hero sends him sailing over the top.  Tank has some trays but Nigel slugs him in the gut...PANSHOTS on Tank!  And those flat pans cut him somehow, Nigel sunset flips Hero back in and wins it!

WINNER:  Nigel McGuiness (2-1) pin, pin -> 26 mins. **½

Long chain wrestling submission style match that may put some people to sleep at this hour, but it was decent enough, I kinda was wishing the show would hurry up and be over with.  Chris Hero screams at Tank about the trayshots not being part of the deal.  Looks like Hero is blaming Tank for his loss.  Nigel is handed his championship trophy to end the show.

The Verdict:  Four hour marathon show that deserved to be seen by more than 25 people.  It was a bit much though with thirteen bouts and a half hour late start.  No stinkers in the lineup though and tape traders may want to get a hold of the video, which will probably be a two disc DVD set.  They'll have to get their promotional issues straightened out in a hurry though, as it's gonna take a while for them to reach the break even point on tape sales with all the talent they brought into the PAC with such a small gate.  If another show comes up any fan reading this that lives in the area should go as it is a high-quality wrestling show.  Tank Thurman, thank you for the invite and comp tickets.

Thumbs WAY up.

lol You knew nothing about the HUSS, pal.

For the first match, you were chanting nothing but HOOSK! WTF was that.

And Sinnister did not do a senton splash. That was wrong. You need to learn what stuff is before you go on informing people of what happened.

And you still have to realize that you don't know how the business works, therefore you're not the almighty God of knowing how to run a show. If everything you learned from wrestling is because of the internet, you need to check yourself.
