The Rap Sheet - GAW 1/21/2K6
The Rap Sheet - from the Mad Conservative

Six month layoff, are the shows any better?

Well it's been a long time since I've attended a GAW show, opting to go to other shows around the state instead. I've been wanting to come to watch a GAW again due to the fact that a few people will be moving away soon, plus there's a little contraversey which I'm not too happy about.

Attendance looked to be 90-100. Your hosts are Chris Lee and Conner Riley...whoops, he's still calling himself Colin McDowell here in Maroa. And he goes around complaining about how *I* do play by play?

John Scott opens the show with his little talk show "Let's Talk Talent" with JC Michaels. The first guests are the Clarks. They mock the fact that each Clark has been tag champ for a different length of time. Then say the Clarks goal should to face the "greatest tag team of all time"...well Truly Everything. Now they bring out Smooth GQ & Miss Black. GQ says they're lucky Tricky Dick isn't here or else they'd have the tag belts back, so he has to settle for a match with Jaxson Pride. Truly Everything will win the tag titles instead. Now they bring out one of the owners, Benjamin Taylor. Scott complains about losing the central states title and where was Taylor when he got screwed by Truk. Then JC, Scott, GQ punk out Taylor. What the heck, what brought that on? Sammy Da Bull runs out with a baseball bat to chase them off. He wonders if this has been going on the past few months while he was away. Ben Taylor has the look of total confusion.

Dickie Williams & Kev G vs. Hot Commodity - Gavin Alexander & Billy Reno w/ Amanda Hart - Gavin is chewing out Amanda for some reason, well maybe it's because she's been acting really oddball the past few months. Gavin has his way with Kev, who foolishly tries to slam him and nearly gets pinned. Dickie tags in brawls with Gavin on the floor, but gets thrown into the steps. Gavin works the knee but Dickie reverses the whip and gets the splash and bulldog. Kev G in, double team clothesline and Dickie drops Kev onto Gavin. Kev wants Reno so he throws him to the corner. Reno with headscissors and floatover gets two. Tag Dickie, slaps Gavin, chokes Reno, running knee. Kev in with a sloppy double team clothesline. Dickie is down favoring his leg, Gavin outta nowhere decides to attack Reno and hit him with "The Gunslinger" and walk. Kev pins Reno. The heck?

WINNERS: Dickie Williams & Kev G pin -> 8 mins. *¼

Well what's up with that? Dickie Williams appeared to mess up his leg, and Reno recovers enough to chew out Gavin and demands a fight, well they DO fight on the floor bringing out the refs to try breaking it up until Sammy Da Bull comes out and makes a match between Reno and Gavin next month.

Triple Threat Match
"The Iron Chef" Leo Lagossi vs. Mephisto vs. Eric Ruffington - Well this is the first time I've seen Mephisto in action, and all I know about him is the wild posts he's made on various message boards. This actually is the first match Lagossi has had in GAW, I wonder why he hasn't wrestled here before. Ruff hits dropkicks and the heels bail. Chef in, Meph goes after Ruffington. Double suplex, Meph gets two. Meph slaps the Chef, crossarm on Ruff but Chef breaks it up. Meph hiptoss into a DDT on Chef gets two. Ruff whip clothesline by Meph for one. Meph chokes Chef, Ruff splash. Chef suplex on Meph for two. LOW BLOW on Ruff, double whip double hiptoss gets two. Well Chef and Meph keep fighting for the cover, so they fight. Ruff goes after Meph, double team choke on Ruff. Meph spinning neckbreaker on Chef gets two. Meph suplex blocked, neck snap on Meph by the Chef, Ruff goes after Meph, tilt-a-whirl side slam gets two. Meph dumps the Chef out, Meph side suplex on Ruff, slam. Meph hits the final fall on Ruff but gets two. Mephisto DDT'S CHEF'S HEAD ON RUFF'S HEAD! Dang, that REALLY knocked heads! Meph locks in the Texas cloverleaf, Ruff breaks it up, Ruff Rider later gets the pin.

WINNER: Eric Ruffington pin -> 6 mins. **½

Richard Biggs w/ Gavin Alexander vs. Brian Ealey - Hmmm...after what happened earlier wonder how this is gonna go? Ealey I thought had a seperated shoulder, turned out just banged his elbow. Biggs hits Ealey with high impact moves until Ealey manages a tornado DDT and hits a flying headscissors for two. Ealey with a flying elbow off the top for two. Ealey tunes up the band, but Gavin gets chatty with him, allowing Biggs to deliver the F5. Gavin doesn't want Biggs to pin him there, he wants him to "end his career". Well Ealey's up, SUPERKICK...GOODBYE...PIN.

WINNER: Brian Ealey pin -> 8 mins. **

Well Gavin gets after Ealey...kick DDT and Biggs gets in Gavin's face over the loss! Now THEY'RE fighting! Gavin reverse DDT on Biggs, and Reno comes back out along with the refs. Biggs shakes hands with Ealey. Sammy & Taylor change the match where it's Reno vs. Biggs vs. Gavin next month.

"The Redneck Extremist" Sly & Donovan Cain vs. "Real Deal" AJ "Not Styles" Powers & "Modern Day Kid" Joe Cain - Joe's back? It was said Joe was deactivated from the roster indefinately. Wonder what changed? AJ has changed his name to AC in the other places he wrestlers cause some fans think he's AJ Styles or something. I have no trouble distinguishing the two men. Colin says Sly looks like Chris Lee's whole family. AJ and Don start, they trade moves until Don catches a foot and throws AJ down. Tags Joe and Sly. Armdrags Joe leading to the crossarm, but Sly pounds him down and takes Don. Sly & Don double team hip tosses, elbows and legdrops. The Cains trade kicks until Joe hits a stunner for two. AJ in, he kicks and chops Don down. Tag Joe, belly to belly suplex by Donovan on Joe, slugs AJ and they do an illegal switch. Sly with a DDT for two. Tiger Bomb Sly gets two. Donovan in, side suplex gets two. Joe with a leglock, slam, goes up and misses a twisting legdrop. Tag AJ, hits a spinebuster for two. Chaos ensues, Sly in with a superplex on AJ, Joe in with a DDT on Sly, AJ and Donovan end up brawling outside, Joe with a springboard dive on them, AJ misfires a punch on Joe, Sly with a flip dive on the pile, Sly and Joe hit enzuigiris on each other, AJ in, butterfly facebuster into an X-Factor from the second rope gets the pin.

WINNERS: AJ Powers & Joe Cain pin -> 11 mins. ***½

GAW Central States Championship
(c)Truk Thompson vs. Danger Doug Fraze - They look at Ryan Christian Carter who's the referee and do not want him there. Well they start out slugging, no dice, they try a test of strength, no dice. Doug knees him for two, suplex, clothesline, legdrop, slam all for two counts. They collide off the whip, Truk side slam for two. Truk waits, SPEAR gets two. And Truk is angry it ain't over...well Fraze probably knows how to survive a spear since he does a lot of them himself. Truk splash in the corner, and ten punches him...but Fraze POWERBOMBS him for two. Well...Fraze side slam, kick, goes for the powerbomb, it's blocked, back body drop Truk...SPEAR!!! Pin, goodbye Truk retains. Colin complains about more handshaking which Truk & Danger do.

WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Truk Thompson pin -> 9 mins. **½

GAW Tag Champ Championship
(c)Petey & Jessie Clark vs. Truly Everything w/ Miss Black - JC Michaels & Tru Talent Johnathan Scott - Scott & Pete start, hits a spinning neckbreaker, tags Jessie, DDT gets two. Scott with a LOW BLOW, suplex gets two. Tag JC who proceeds to work the back with a camel clutch then jumps and sits on him. Half crab, tag Scott who works him with knees and kicks. Tag JC, double clothesline, and does the kneeling surfboard. Jessie up, does a sloppy Thesz press and pounds him. Ummm...Jessie might wanna lay off the Thesz presses until he gets better at it. Tag Pete, but he runs into a LOW BLOW and JC does a dropkick! Well not very high. John Scott tagged in, they switch in and out doing clotheslines, Petey hits one and tags but Jessie gets raked, they clothesline each other down. So Petey & Scott tag in, Petey misses the dropkick, Scott goes to pick him up but gets small packaged for the pin. You know they need to vary it up a bit. JC & Scott steal the tag belts and RUN.

WINNERS and STILL CHAMPS: Petey & Jessie Clark pin -> 9 mins. *½

Gay Bra & Briefs Match
Apriq Laveq vs. Marcus St. Christopher w/ Jewels Vega - If this was the first match announced for this show, they're either desperate or stupid. And really, do we need this crap here? Apriq is wearing seven shirts, which the ref orders him to remove all but one, per the rules. The gay jokes fly off Colin & Lee's mouths, and the whole thing is revolting. MSC tries to pull Apriq's pants, then ties him up to whip him. Apriq & MSC pile on the ref, then MSC ten punches Apriq. Apriq yanks on the pants of MSC, chase to the floor ensues and it's a neck snap and suplex, pickup attempt is escaped, MSC hits a BOOT. Apriq springboard moonsault and pulls the shirt off...ugh, MSC is wearing a bra. Apriq takes it off and chokes him with it. DDT Apriq, clothesline, slugfest, MSC hits a side suplex and pulls Apriq's pants off. And we get an ugly sight. Apriq freaks out and gives MSC the F-U. Apriq proceeds to hit the whisper in the wind, tries to cover but forgot pinfalls don't count. MSC hits a DDT, pulls the shirt off, but it's still hanging on Apriq's arm and MSC gets hit with the last rites, pants yanked and Apriq wins to end this sad sight. This match is over, and I shall never speak of it again. Did we HAVE to sit through this garbage?

WINNER: Apriq Laveq KO -> 12 mins. -*****

In one of the most ironic and unintentionally funny statements of the night, Chris Lee says not to try any of the stuff we see in the ring, cause they are trained professionals. Ummm...doing a bra and panties match is professional? It looks BACKYARD to me!

Smooth GQ Suavey vs. Jaxson Pride - Geez, GQ has JC and John Scott with him. GQ hits the opening trio, Pride does it back to him and GQ bails. GQ fires a knee to the head and works the leg, Pride kicks him off. Pride hard chop, whip splash MISSED, rollup gets two. GQ knees the leg, chops, enzuigiri gets two. And Miss Black tries choking Pride, Pride catches GQ, he escapes, drop toe hold down to the rope, GQ charges but Pride sidesteps him, spinning neckbreaker, slingshot elbowdrop for two. GQ with a rake, back body drop to the apron, GQ springboards but gets hit with a dropkick by Pride. I'm distracted by something as GQ goes up, tries the spinaround moonsault and wrecks his knee. Uh oh. Pride finishes him with the muscle buster and pins him. GQ looks like he's injured.

WINNER: Jaxson Pride pin -> 9 mins. **¾

Truly Everything jump on Pride as GQ is carried out, Scott fisherman's suplex on Pride, JC elbow...and Truk Thompson & The Clarks charge the ring to run them off. Miss Black left with the tag belts a while ago.

The Spotlight comes out with Cherry Malone, complete with cowboy hat. He rambles about the crowd and claims he's the one part of the show that's good. The GAW owners both come out. Taylor mocks SSP by using one of the old trademark Hurricane phrases. They say email was coming in saying they want to see SSP against Jason Lyte. SSP says Lyte ain't his level, but hey, he'll beat him.

GAW Heavyweight Championship
Spotlight Spencer Powers vs. "The Kid" Jason Lyte w/ Don Cain - Flying headscissors, armdrag, dropkick Lyte and SSP bails. Slingshot crossbody Lyte, toss in, flying clothesline gets two. SSP suplexes him off the top rope, gut buster, and hits a running shoulderblock in the corner. Lyte's got a bellyache. Standing choke on the bottom rope by SSP, butterfly suplex and choke. Lyte hits a miracle clothesline in the corner, suplex, goes up but SSP cuts him off...fight on the top rope, superplex attempt is blocked, shoveoff, Lyte hits a flying elbow for two. SSP goes back to work though with knees to the gut for two. Lyte comes back with a death valley driver into a backbreaker, goes up, five-star splash MISSES, and SSP goes for the ab stretch, but Lyte taps out before it's fully locked in due to all the damage he's taken.

WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Spotlight Spencer Powers submission -> 10 mins. ***½

SSP has the mike and gloats. He states Madman has to prove himself against Hardcore KC for him to consider giving a title shot next month. Madman states he'll kick KC's butt and come after SSP next.

Mississippi Madman vs. Hardcore KC - SSP takes a seat at the commentary booth. Chris Lee gets into an arguement with SSP over what's fair or not fair. Madman charges, KC sidesteps and slaps him in the face. Madman clobbers him down and dumps him to the floor and KC tosses him into the bleachers. Back in, Madman pulls KC out of the corner, spin kick caught, KC yanks the leg. KC tries to work the leg on the bottom rope and puts him in a chinlock. Chop block KC, Madman kicks him off, LOW BLOW KC gets two. KC continues the choking, eventually gets an anklelock but Madman escapes. Madman hits a suplex, splash attempt misses, KC stupidly tries to slam Madman. SSP runs in to help, but Madman slams them both down. Haha. Whip to the corner, KC pulls the ref in front of him and he gets pancaked. Arrgh! KC eats a boot, SSP jumps back in with a beltshot, KC covers for three. Not as good as the prior battles they've had.

WINNER: Hardcore KC pin -> 13 mins. **¼

Madman's pissed off, he's tired of being screwed over and wants SSP in that title match next month. Be a man and quit being a coward. He wants a dog collar match. Sammy Da Bull has something to say about it. He calls Cherry Malone a dog. If Ben Taylor agrees the match is on, he agrees. So the main event next month is SSP vs. Madman for the GAW Heavyweight title next month.

The Verdict: Well the "bra and briefs" match I can completely do without as it confirms the notions of many about what they think wrestling is. Past that, matches varied, though the best matches came from the CCW guys involved. Hope GAW is taking notes. Other occurances during the show seemed like they came outta nowhere and I had to wonder what's been going on. GAW will be undergoing major turnover past February and time is gonna tell what the roster is gonna look like by March. Be forewarned, the ride will be bumpy.

Thumbs leaning up.
