The Rap Sheet on GAW 2/18/2K6
The Rap Sheet - from the Mad Conservative
Great American Wrestling - Crossing the Line
2/18/2K6 Maroa, IL

LOTS of lines were crossed, that's for sure...

Well this event is gonna be infamous in the minds of fans and insiders for quite a while. I shall point out when lines are crossed as we go along, as there's multiple instances of it that went on throughout the show, and do it in some sort of sarcastic fashion. Here we go.

Live from the Old Grade School in Maroa, IL. Attendance was in the range of 80-90. Your announcers are Chris "Watto" Lee and Conner Riley...errr...I mean Colin McDowell. I should make a commendation now for Conner/Colin who did a major act of heroism recently, helping save a woman from committing suicide where he works. If you have him on Myspace you can read about it.

Deacon Hobbs comes out as the new commissioner of GAW. Wow. Hobbs introduces himself for the fans that have never seen him before. He says the GAW locker room has crossed so many lines, so GAW approached him as an experienced eight year veteran to go in and clean up the mess. And Hardcore KC comes out to tell Hobbs he's pissed off. Hobbs tells him to back off or else he's gone. KC complains about going against a fruitcake and Madman has "his title shot". Hobbs says it was on his list of things to do, but cause KC was being rude and though he could wipe the floor with him, if he wins his match tonight he gets a title shot with whatever stip he wants to use at anytime. KC wants his opponent in the ring right now.

Hardcore KC vs. Marcus St. Christopher w/ Jewels Vega - KC beats the crap outta MSC, until MSC blocks a boot with his hands and hip tosses KC around, spinning neckbreaker gets two. Atomic Drop MSC, 10-punch in the corner, side slam gets one. MSC botches an X-factor attempt, KC grabs the foot for the ankle lock and it's over already! MSC really crossed the line wearing that stupid ugly getup.

WINNER: Hardcore KC submission -> 3:45 mins. *

Triple Threat Match
Billy Reno vs. Richard Biggs vs. Gavin Alexander - Well we have Hot Commodity exploding! Biggs and Reno attack Gavin and he bails, but Biggs shoulderblocks Reno, hip toss, splash gets two. Gavin trips him up and splashes Reno in the corner, legdrop. Biggs in, splashes Gavin in the corner, Gavin back splashes Biggs in the other. Reno clothesline from the middle rope gets one. Biggs in, press slams Reno onto Gavin for two. Gavin DDTs Biggs, boot wipe. Reno in, weak double team legdrop on Biggs for two. Gavin splashes Biggs, Reno kicks Gavin for two. Biggs in, clotheslines Gavin. Reno in, running dropkick on Biggs. Jawbreaker Reno, powerslam Biggs gets two. Gavin in, hits the Gunslinger on Reno! Spinebuster Biggs on Gavin, second rope splash attempt misses, Gavin spinebusters Reno for two. Reno stunner on Biggs, Gavin clotheslines Reno out, Biggs takes down Gavin and gets the pin. Slow motion and boring triple threat, which crossed the lines of many people's patience.

WINNER: Richard Biggs pin -> 8 mins. ½*

TripC agreeing with me on how that match crossed the line, comes out and attacks Reno in the aisle, wanting him outta here. TripC berates the crowd, he says we're lucky cause we're gonna see star power tonight, he's making an impact. AC Powers answers the challenge.

Catalyst Cory Carter vs. AC Powers - Powers wanted to change the J to a C cause he didn't want to confused with AJ Styles. Well I never confused the two and thought he should milk it, whether THAT crossed any lines. AC with the armbar and wrestles him down, slam. TripC hits a elbow and splashes in him the corner, applying a sleeper. AC dropkick and chopdown for two. Russian legsweep TripC for two, gut wrench suplex. AC strikes back with a running knee and spinebuster, but misses a top rope splash. TripC rollup, uses the ropes and steals it. *I* apparently crossed the line by saying someone held a title in another fed and thus him losing here makes him look "weak" and the winner will claim to be champ in a fed he's never been in.

WINNER: Catalyst Cory Carter pin -> 6:35 mins. **½

Truly Everything come out with tag belts that aren't theirs, and that crosses a line. Just days ago the Clarks were double champs holding GAW's and NGW's tag titles.

GAW Tag Team Championship
(c)Petey & Jessie Clark vs. Truly Everything - JC Michaels & Johnathan Scott - Jess and JC start the match, but JC bails as sound as he's hit with a shoulderblock. So Scott comes in and hits a sideslam and suplex for two. JC comes back in and punches Jessie in the butt...okay THAT crossed a line. Johnathan and JC take turns on Jessie's legs, until Jessie hits a clothesline and tags Pete. Suplex and stomp, but Scott rakes him. JC in with a head slam and legdrop for two. JC hits That's a Wrap but count is broken up. All four battle, JC with a half crab on Jessie, Petey with a sharpshooter on Scott. They release, JC dumps Pete out and everyone takes a break. Scott and Pete in, inverted atomic drop and shoulderblock Pete, goes up, moonsault...MISSED! Double tags, botched tripup, Jessie lockes in the Texas cloverleft, Petey takes out Scott, Jessie DDTs JC for the pin.

WINNERS and STILL CHAMPS: Petey & Jessie Clark pin -> 10 mins. *¾

Fatal Four-Way Lucha Libre Match
Jason Lyte vs. Donovan Cain vs. Joe Cain vs. Brett Gikaya - Well, things should really pick up big here. Lucha Libre rules are in effect, if someone steps out someone else can step in, tags are optional. One fall to a finish. Joe and Brett start, shoulderblock Brett no effect, shoulderblock Joe, trip Brett, armdrag Joe. Don and Lyte in, armdrag Lyte, Joe in and he armdrags Lyte. Brett in, flying headscissors, Joe in, headscissors, Brett in, headscissors, now each man takes turns hitting missile dropkicks on each other. Brett and Joe in, clotheslines traded, Brett armbar takedown, scissors Joe. Lockup, headlocks traded, Joe takedown, Jason Lyte gets in J-Mac's face...heh. Hip toss neckbreaker Joe, Jason Lyte in for Brett and chops him down. Lyte fires knees, high knee, clothesline neckbreaker combo Lyte. Tag Donovan, slingshot double knee backbreaker on Joe! Don works over his bro, headscissors his head and bounces it on the mat like a basketball! So much for brotherly love. Tag Brett, FLYING HEADBUTT on Joe for two. Don breaks it up, Joe goes for a suplex, whip to the corner splash gets two. Brett kicks him down, butterfly armbar & bridge. Don stomps him. Brett knocks Lyte off, Joe grabs Brett for a powerbomb, tags Don. Don with a double knee stomach breaker, Lyte hits an enzuigiri on Donovan. Two wrestlers sitting in front of me discuss all the stolen moves. Yeah sure. Lyte rapid fire kicks on Donovan! Lyte puts Don on the top for a superplex, but gets shoved, elbow Don off the top! Joe in after Don, Don is out, Brett in, they trade kicks and take each other out! Brett whip dropkick on Joe gets two. Brett throws Joe out, Don's in, suplex blocked into a stunner for two. Brett goes after Joe, Don has Brett, double team inverted DDT into a splash in a four way crash. Lyte is dropkicked out through the ropes, Brett and Joe back in, Joe hits a 217 on Brett, moonsault on Don and Lyte on the floor! Brett thinks of something, all three on their feet, suicide dive through the ropes! Brett puts Don back in, Brett hits a jawbreaker, spinning neckbreaker! Joe comes in, chained neckbreaker with three men gets two. Lyte dumps Brett and Joe, has Don, whip to the corner, crossbody is caught, stranglehold applied, Brett springboard legdrop on Don! Lyte pickup death valley into a backbreaker on Don! Joe leaping elbow off the top to break the cover! Lyte tries to suplex off someone, Donovan strangles Lyte, Joe moonsaults onto Don's exposed head! Brett says he's surviving. Lyte chops Joe, Joe hurraconranna gets two. Don in, indian deathlock and stomp, Lyte in, puts on a sharpshooter, but Joe breaks it up. Camel clutch by Joe on Brett. Joe tags Donovan, Brett chokeslams Donovan on a reversal, everyone laughs. Brett chops him, goes for a superplex, blocked, does the dragonfly instead! Lyte goes to the top, splashes Brett! Joe to the top, swanton bomb on Donovan! Brett has Don, Lyte has Joe, Joe is backdropped out! Lyte goes after Don, Brett and Joe on the top, they chain together, double suplex and powerbomb! Lyte has Donovan, reversals, rollup gets three! Spectaular match, and a leading candidate for match of the year in GAW, which crosses a lot lines for those refuse to watch anything that doesn't have only BIG, SLOW and MUSCLAR guys that bore the heck outta everyone else. Crowd applauds and cheers for all four guys for a long while.

WINNER: Jason Lyte pin -> 19:20 mins. ****½

It's intermission time, but somebody tell that to the wrestlers, as Dickie Williams comes out with the strangest looking title belt ever, that being the "hardcore title", which looks like a white weightlifters belt with the word Hardcore painted on it. And Brian Ealey comes barreling out from the back to attack him with a kendo stick! Pizza Guy Frank comes out and hits Ealey with a board! Dickie goes somewhere, Ealey gets a chair, Dickie gets dropped on the chair! Ealey scores a pin on Dickie to take the belt. Frank with a stunner on Ealey gets a pin. Dickie Williams goes after Frank and chokes him with a rope. Ealey has a board and hits Frank with it. Ealey throws Dickie through the chairs! Ealey dropped Frank on the stairs! Dickie throws Ealey into the post! Frank tossed in, he chokes someone with the kendo! Ealey goes up, elbow off the top on Williams! Ealey covers Frank for two. Dickie kendo shot on Frank, rollup gets a pin and he runs off with the hardcore belt. No tallies for this one as this was NOT an official match. Having a 24-7 rule at all crosses the line for stupidity, as this belt is changing hands in strange places without anyone knowing. Including backstage on another fed's show!

Kev G & Tank Ortiz w/ TripC vs. Dennis Devine & Axis - Ortiz is here from Ohio representing Freak Show Wrestling, he throws the towel to the crowd and I catch it. Baseball slide dropkicks and the brawl starts on the floor! Kev headbutts Devine, Axis fights Tank. Devine throws Kev into the side of the ring! Devine is bleeding! What the heck happened? Devine goes after Kev, Tank DDTs Axis who still has the sunglasses on! Hasn't he ever heard what happened to Curtis Hughes who also wore the shades during combat? Axis with a suicide dive on Kev G! TripC attacks Axis...and the ref catches him. Devine throws Kev in, TripC chokes Axis and is ejected on the spot. Axis comes back with a clothesline and wipes his boot on Kev! Axis shoulderblocks, handspring elbow, snapmare, dropkick to the back gets two. Axis moonsault attempt gets the knees! Tank tagged, and TripC comes BACK out here, chops are traded but Tank just eats the chops and takes down Axis. Security tries to get TripC out, but he just sits in other guys chairs to stall. Ortiz suplexes Devine. I've lost track of everything as security resorts to carrying TripC sitting in the chair outta here. Kev G is trying to tag out, double tags, Tank and Axis slug it out. Kev pulls Devine off, Axis inverted atomic drop, Kev has a camel clutch on Devine on the floor. Axis pounds Ortiz, suplex Ortiz. The Springfield crew has a name for Chris Lee--Watto. Samoan Drop by Ortiz on Axis gets two. Tank screams he's about to unleash the weapons of mass destruction, Devine is thrown in...surfboard and dragon sleeper submission hold applied, and Devine gives it up! TripC comes back out to raise the arms of his team.

WINNERS: Kev G & Tank Ortiz submission -> 9:40 mins. **

Jewels Vega and Marcus St. Christopher run out to chase the heels away. Well Axis, Devine, MSC and Vega...now that's a foursome. I would cross the line if I called them 4GQ. Devine's BIG NOTCH on his head really crossed the line, as it was really gross, and heck, Devine had to sit out of action for a few weeks to heal that mess. Kev G was sick too and maybe shouldn't had been out there. TripC crossed the line coming back out repeatedly after he was booted out, sheesh I lost track of the match. Match had bad flow all the way through, due to those factors.

Deacon Hobbs comes back out to say a bunch of lines were crossed with the nonsense with the hardcore 24-7 stuff, wrestlers getting hurt like Devine did and he was gonna reign it in.

TSO Alex Monroe w/ Truly Everything vs. Jaxson Pride - Monroe is really Smooth GQ Suavey under a NEW name, for whatever reason he changed it. And here's where lines are being crossed repeatedly. GQ comes out to Kill Bill, which is the theme of the NMW 4GQ. And Truly Everything is dressed up with Miss Black wearing that same ugly suit that shows way too much cleavage--that crossed a line. They trade armdrags to start, headlock takedown, GQ dropkick to the knee, suplex, knee, sleeper, hair yank for two. GQ with a BOOT, crossbody but Pride floats over for two. Dropkick GQ, hard chops by Pride. Guy Smith shouts Pride is pregnant, Pride answers so are you. DDT GQ gets two. Back body drop Pride, side kick, spinebuster gets two. Pride with more chops, but GQ hits a reverse DDT. He's tossed a towel to wipe the ropes, goes up...and does the spinaround moonsault for two. Okay, that crossed a line, cause someone in my section is upset. Backdrop Pride in the corner, he slugs away, slam. Pride goes up, he's intercepted, spinning neckbreaker off the top rope! Pride hits the floor, GQ with a shooting star from the apron! GQ goes for something, but Pride backdrops him into the apron, Ego Trip neckbreaker follows and both guys can't get up and are counted out.

NO WINNER: Double Countout -> 10:40 mins. ***½

Okay, the observations are made that these guys are pretending to be 4GQ as an apparently rip on another fed with members of said group in the audience. You can pick out the roles for each man. They claim the Kill Bill theme playing was an accident. So who do you believe? Was GAW acting unprofessional, or was NMW just whining? You be the judge. Lines crossed all over depending on your answer. Total silliness all over if you ask me. Anyway, Truly Everything beat on Pride which draw out Truk Thompson and the Clarks to run them off. This leads to Truk demanding an eight man tag next month between the four of them against the "4GQ ripoffs" with a yet to be named partner.

GAW Heavyweight Championship - Dog Collar Match
(c)Spotlight Spencer Powers w/ Cherry Malone vs. Mississippi Madman - The Spotlight's been having problems with women lately, but seems to have things together. And I've just crossed the line having breached the forbidden invoking of angle clash. SSP does a long rant before Madman comes out, about why they call him Spencer...FOR HIRE! Madman throws SSP around with the chain, SSP tries to tag the corners quick but Madman headbutts him. Madman whip clothesline with the chain...yowch. SSP tries to run, Madman shot to the head with the chain, elbow with the chain, he slugs at his head with it. Madman touches three corners but SSP grabs a leg. SSP slides under Madman, then yanks the chain up to crotch him. Who's balls? SSP tries to tie him up with the chain, then hits in him the back. SSP with a DDT and forgets pinfalls don't count. Madman shrugs it off and whips SSP with the chain. Madman splash in the corner, shows chokeslam, Cherry Malone decides to hop in the ring to break it up...geez, she's nuts! Cherry slaps him, but Madman hits her in the head. SSP with a LOW BLOW! The wild Cherry just wasn't thinking. SSP with a chokehold, Cherry wants to help, SSP tags three corners but Madman yanks him down. Madman rams him in the corner repeatedly, Madman tags a couple corners but SSP with a dropkick to the knee. SSP dropkick, he says that's why they call me Spencer..."FOR HIRE!". Laughing in the crowd over that. Rake by SSP and he pounds away. Legdrop with the chain, tags three corners, Madman interrupts so SSP chokes with the chain. SSP tags three corners, Madman gets up but SSP instead of tagging the corner decides to beat on Madman some more. SSP for some reason takes off the collar and punches the referee! Good lord, he forget how to win this? Another ref comes out and SSP slugs HIM down! WTF? A third ref comes in but SSP hits a Juvy Driver on Robbie the Ref! No ref to call for the bell now, and SSP fetches a chair. He's flipped out! Madman nails SSP however, FIFTH FLOOR! Madman hogties SSP, Ben Taylor comes out to be a substitute ref, then tags all four corners and it's over!

WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Mississippi Madman KO -> 15:10 mins. ***

SSP now attacks Ben Taylor! Security swarms the ring and tackles SSP. They literally CARRY SSP outta here, while SSP does the worst display of sportsmenship ever. They are actually taking him to the front door, and I decide to witness this by following. Hey get him a coat! It's freezing cold out there! Cherry has to leave with him. I suspect SSP crossed so many lines that he will be banned from GAW for his conduct tonight. On the way out I passed Hardcore KC, and thought he was just watching the match, but when I went back in the gym, KC is in the ring pounding Madman with a weapon! KC says he wants his title match with no DQ right now! Oh boy.

GAW Heavyweight Championship - Hardcore Match
(c)Mississippi Madman vs. Hardcore KC - Well geez, rip off Edge/Cena and cross ANOTHER line. KC turns Madman over for two. KC has a chair....CHAIRSHOT!!! A weak chairshot to the back of the head and that gets the pin. Geewhiz.

WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Hardcore KC pin -> 53 sec. DUD

Central States Championship
(c)Truk Thompson vs. Apriq Laveq - Apriq rants about this being his biggest match since his casket match, and we should consider ourselves lucky to see him win a title tonight. Truk clotheslines Apriq out, and he proceeds to stall like mad outside. Once back in, Apriq engages but gets shoves down and he runs off again, but Truk persues, Apriq with a drop toe hold into the ropes and works the arm. Truk with a powerslam, but Apriq with a suplex and locks in a submission hold...looks like a butterfly lock. Truk backdrops him, and they slug it out, crotching Apriq on the ropes. Truk body drop, clotheslines, spinebuster for two. Apriq hops over the top rope, Truk kicks him off and follows. Apriq throws him into the post, toss in, moonsault gets two. Truk tries the SPEAR...but it's evaded, post toss, Apriq LAST RITES gets two! Apriq calls for something. The lights go out, and SOMEONE is bringing a casket to ringside! Thing gets caught on the tarp, the referee gets knocked over, Apriq attempts to put Truk in the box, but Truk fights back and they slug it out. Kaval pops out of the box and has a chair! He nails Truk with it, as the clueless commentary team can't figure out what's going on, well it's obvious for someone who goes to multiple shows in the area, they're the Prophecy! Apriq with another version of a neckbreaker and that gets the pin and the title. Dang that really was a long match, it sure didn't seem like it.

WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Apriq Laveq pin -> 18:55 mins. **½

The Verdict: Show varied from match to match depending on who was in the ring from which fed. The lucha libra match stands out by far with Pride/Monroe running second. There were definately lots of lines crossed, and clearly some people whom are insiders are not happy about it from a public relations standpoint. The typical rank and file fan wouldn't had caught some of this stuff, which is why I'm here to tell you about it. As it is, show overall was decent, GAW will have a real challenge with booking next time as many many outside guys that are regulars will be working other shows that evening. I'm going elsewhere that evening.

Thumbs up.
